TV’s erstwhile Trophy Wife next will play Damian Lewis’ wife, on the Showtime pilot Billions.
Malin Akerman has been cast on the buzzy drama project as Lara Axelrod, a former nurse from humble beginnings who is now married to billionaire Bobby “Axe” Axelrod (played by Homeland vet Lewis).
Akerman’s other TV credits include The Comeback, Childrens Hospital and Suburgatory.
Written and exec-produced by Brian Koppelman and David Levien and Andrew Ross Sorkin, Billions — which I again contend should be spelled with a dollar sign — promises “a forensic look at the world of high finance” by tracking the approaching collision between two titanic figures: brilliant hedge fund king Bobby Axelrod and whip-smart U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti).
Currently shooting in New York, the Billions cast also includes Maggie Siff (Sons of Anarchy), Toby Leonard Moore (The Pacific), Condola Rashad (Smash) and David Costabile (Low Winter Sun).
