Jim Parsons is breathing new life into a (relatively young) holiday classic: The Big Bang Theory star will voice Buddy the Elf — yes, Will Ferrell’s character from 2003’s Elf — in a new holiday special for NBC.

Premiering Dec. 16 at 8/7c, Elf: Buddy’s Musical Christmas retells the story of Buddy’s journey to New York City, combining aspects of both the original film and the Broadway stage production.

Additional voices include Mark Hamill, Ed Asner, Fred Armisen, Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Gilbert Gottfried, Kate Micucci, Rachael MacFarlane, Max Charles and Steve Higgins.

* Syfy’s Haven is staging a major WWE reunion. “Christian” has been tapped for a recurring arc on the drama, which will reunite him with series regular Adam Copeland, formerly known as Christian’s tag team partner “Edge.” Christian, whose real name is Jay Reso, will play McHugh, one of Copeland’s character’s oldest friends. He’ll first appear on the Nov. 28 episode and will reappear in 2015.

* Charles Dance (Game of Thrones) will star in Syfy’s six-hour miniseries Childhood’s End, an adaptation of Arthur C. Clarke’s sci-fi novel, EW reports. Dance will play Karellen, the ambassador for the Overlords, a group of aliens that come to earth and reshape society. The miniseries is slated to air sometime in 2015.

* The CW’s iZombie is staging a mini Veronica Mars reunion. Percy Daggs III, who played Wallace Fennel on Mars, is guest-starring on an upcoming episode of iZombie, TVGuide.com reports, playing a wealthy genius named Sean Taylor.. Rob Thomas, who co-created iZombie, also created Veronica Mars.

* Days of Our Lives‘ Chrishell Stause announced via Twitter on Friday that her character, Jordan Ridgeway, will soon be departing Salem. Her final scenes, she says, will continue to air through March 2015:
