Lauren Ambrose is digging her new TV gig.
The Six Feet Under alumna has joined USA Network’s six-episode event series Dig, from Heroes’ Tim Kring and Homeland’s Gideon Raff, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Dig centers on Jerusalem-based FBI detective Peter Connelly (played by Awake‘s Jason Isaacs), who’s embroiled in a race to find a religious artifact that could change the course of history. During the search, he becomes the suspect in a sensational murder.
Ambrose co-stars as a dedicated follower of evangelist Ted Billingham (Suits‘ David Costabile).

* Masters of Sex has tapped Courtney B. Vance (FlashForward, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) and Rene Auberjonois (Warehouse 13) for Season 2. Vance will recur as Dr. Hendricks, the head of an African-American hospital in St. Louis whose goal is to racially integrate his workplace. Auberjonois, meanwhile, guest-stars as Dr. Papanikolaou, a former professor of Dr. DePaul (played by Julianne Nicholson). She and Johnson hope the doc will endorse their screening program that uses the test named after him: the Pap smear.

* Kristen Bell will return to host the CMT Music Awards, airing live on June 4 at 8/7c.
* 30 Rock alum Scott Adsit has joined Season 3 of Adult Swim’s live-action comedy The Heart, She Holler as “Sheriff.”
