TVLine Items: Necessary Role for Game Vet, Starz Picks Up Battlestar Boss' Outlander and More!

TVLine has learned exclusively that the Game alum — who co-stars in Showtime’s new series Ray Donovan (bowing this Sunday at 10/9c) — will guest-star on a Season 3 episode of Necessary Roughness.

Hall will drop by the USA Network drama as Blake “The Bronx Blizzard” Bridges, a boxer who seeks help from Dani after finding it difficult to step into the ring.

Necessary Roughness airs Wednesdays at 10 pm.

• Starz has given the green light to Outlander, a new drama from Battlestar Galactica helmer Ron Moore. Adapted from novels by Diana Gabaldon, the 16-episode series is described as spanning “the genres of romance, science fiction, history and adventure in one grandiose tale.” Outlander follows a married combat nurse from 1945 who is swept back in time to 1743 and forced to marry another man.

• Julianne Nicholson (Boardwalk Empire) has landed the lead role in Sundance Channel’s upcoming drama series The Descendants, Deadline reports. The series revolves around a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while policing two clashing communities. Nicholson plays the cop’s wife.

• OWN has ordered 16 additional episodes of The Haves and Have Nots, bringing its freshman order to 32 installments. The second half of the season will air in early 2014.
