  1. Sam says:

Three episodes of MF are nominated. None of Girls are. That ratio should be the opposite.

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

It may not be that New Series are eligible in the Episodic categories.

    • Lora says:

I’m so over Modern Family and how much energy is put toward it. It’s funny, but there are other just as good, if not better shows out there that deserve some attention too.

  2. Hilarious says:

    The Mindy Project?! Lol.

  3. Britta Unfiltered says:

The description for New Car Smell is not the right one. You are thinking of State of Independence, I believe. New Car Smell is the one where Carrie meets Brody at the bar and then follows him up to his hotel room to arrest him, and then we, the entire audience, completely freaked out online over it. :)

  4. I wish Raising Hope would get recognized. It’s really a brilliant show. Mo Ryan was right to compare it to Parks & Rec. Especially the Candy Wars episode. The second part of Throw Maw Maw from… had me laughing so hard that I cried.

  5. And yet again Parks & Rec will lose out to Modern Family…

  6. Britta Unfiltered says:

I can’t decide what to root for. In most categories I either want all of them to win or none of them to win. Even though Breaking Bad has 4 episodic nominations, I think Homeland will take it for New Car Smell. That same thing happened to Mad Men at the Emmys where they had 4 episodes nominated in the writing category, and ended up losing to the Homeland pilot. New Car Smell is probably one of the top 2 episodes they’ve written this season so far too. Though for series as a whole, I think no matter who wins, it’s going to be great, because those are all very worthy series. I’ll root for Louie for comedy, but won’t hold my breath on that. Modern Family is just too much competition. New series are all good ones and I could be happy with any of them winning, though maybe I would slightly prefer Girls to win. It probably will, I think a lot of writers in the industry think Lena Dunham has an amazing talent. And it’s true, she does. And then Portlandia for variety should win. Life would be happy if the incredibly entertaining Portlandia could win that category.

  7. George says:

“The Debate” episode of Parks & Recreation was written by Amy Poehler, right?

  8. Maria says:

ridiculos that conan and kimmel got nominated over fallon

  9. Renee says:

Well I only have basic tv channels which eliminates 95% of the list. No interest eliminates the other 5%. Wow.

  10. Sarah says:

ben & kate is the best new comedy, how could it not get nominated?! Mindy project and nashville over ben & kate?! Lol

  11. Joe says:

so glad the newsroom is nominated.. more people need to see that show

  12. Andie says:

Disgusting. Three episode nominations for Modern Family, and not a mention of Community on the list.

  13. Andie says:

Also, “Q&A” was a far superior episode to the still amazing “New Car Smell,” so I wish that had gotten nominated instead.

  14. Paul V says:

Happy about Episodes but I figure that Episode 3 would of been nomation not Episode 9

  15. Anna says:

Glad Breaking Bad pulled out more nominations than the vastly overrated Homeland. I feel like Homeland is a lot of people’s introduction to cable series heaven and that’s why everyone is so crazy about it. It’s the same reason my sister thinks Dexter is the best show ever. Compared to network TV, anything on cable looks good (and yes, I watch Homeland).

  16. Ralph says:

So glad to see the dearly departed One Life to Live honored. Hope it wins.

  17. nick1372 says:

    Who should win-
    Drama: Homeland
    Comedy: Modern Family
Comedy Episode: Modern Family, “Virgin Territory”
    New: The Newsroom
Comedy/Variety: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart
Daytime Drama: One Life to Live

    • Jane says:

More like who will win. Breaking Bad and The Colbert Report both had stronger seasons. Colbert’s use of satire to make a point about SuperPACS this year was genius. The Daily Show is entertaining much of the time, but it’s little more than a joke factory (many of which are not funny).

  18. Dave says:

i can’t be the only person around who thinks Modern Family is now wildly overrated and over-hyped. this season has been totally hit & miss in terms of good episodes. getting pretty tired of seeing its symphony of nominations for everything imaginable.

  19. Anon says:

The only show I like on this whole list of nominees is the Mindy Project. A few of them I find to be okay, but way overrated. This list is predictable and pretentious IMO.
