Pilot Scoop: Donald Sutherland Joins Sunny Duo's Fox Comedy, CW's Beast Adds LUX Alum

Emmy winner Donald Sutherland has been cast opposite Pan Am‘s Mike Vogel in Living Loaded, Fox’s comedy pilot from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Rob McElhenney and Rob Rosell.

The series centers on Dan, a hard-partying blogger (Vogel) who is forced to change his life when he becomes an NPR radio host, with Dirty Sexy Money alum Sutherland playing the refined manager of a local radio station and Dan’s dad.

• Life Unexpected fan fave Austin Basis is headed back to The CW with a role on the Kristin Kreuk-starring drama, Beauty and the Beast. The project, loosely based on the 1980s Linda Hamilton series, centers on the relationship between Catherine, an NYPD homicide detective, and Vincent, a “beast” who survived a military experiment gone wrong. Basis will play Vincent’s friend.

Bored To Death’s Heather Burns has been cast opposite Anne Heche in the NBC comedy Save Me, which follows a woman who, after an accident, begins to believe she is channeling God. Burns will play the leading lady’s friend. Meet the Browns‘ Lamman Rucker has also joined the cast, playing a doctor.

Emily Swallow — who was most recently seen on Ringer — is set to join Alfred Molina and Ving Rhames on David E. Kelley’s TNT medical drama Chelsea General, playing a young resident who is still learning the ropes.

Eamonn Walker (Oz/Kings) has been cast in NBC’s Dick Wolf-helmed drama Chicago Fire, which explores the brave people behind the Chicago Fire Department. Walker will play the team’s Chief, who is mulling retirement.
