Rebecca Mader is hanging with no ordinary people again, a JAG alum is engaging in Covert Affairs, and a buzzy ABC Family series is “stepping up” its game. Here now, the scoops!
On an upcoming episode of Syfy’s Alphas — which this past Monday gave the cabler its most-watched series debut in two years, with 2.5 million viewers — Lost/No Ordinary Family alum Mader will play “a mysterious Alpha,” a rep for the show cagily tells me. Mader’s airdate is under wraps as well, but I can tell you this: She appears within the first 10, and her character’s ability has to be seen to be believed.
Mader next can be seen on the July 19 episode of USA’s Covert Affairs, playing a flight attendant who helps Auggie when his “getaway” to Istanbul takes a work-related turn.
Alphas: A Look at Syfy’s X-traordinary Heroes
Speaking of Covert Affairs, David Andrews (aka JAG‘s Maj. Gen. Gordon ‘Biff’ Cresswell) has landed a role in the USA hit’s summer finale, airing August 9. He’ll once again get officious on us, playing a hotheaded and tightly-wound State Department honcho who crosses paths with Joan and the CIA when a defection attempt gets… complicated.

Lastly: ABC Family’s new summer sudser, The Lying Game — which follows recently reunited twins (played by Alexandra Chando) who swap lives for a day, until one mysteriously disappears — doesn’t debut until August 15, but it’s already adding to its cast: TVLine has learned that Step Up 3D‘s leading stud, Rick Malambri, has booked a multi-episode arc as Eduardo, a sexy choreographer at the Royal Ballet Studio in the series’ hometown of Scottsdale. It’s only fitting that Eduardo will become romantically involved with one of his students, but will the lucky lady be Lincoln Heights headturner Alice Greczyn’s Mads, or Kyle XY alum Kirsten Prout’s Char?
