Obtaining the priceless Alamainian gemstones was only the first step in righting past wrongs on Peacock’s Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, a five-episode limited series which came to an exciting conclusion Friday on NBC’s sibling streamer.
That’s because, as viewers soon learned, the bad guys hadn’t quite revealed themselves. Turns out that wasn’t Shane who collected the emerald from Leo and the amethyst from Ciara and Ben, but Shane’s evil twin brother Drew. And that’s why he didn’t go ballistic when Ben apologized for murdering his granddaughter Paige.
Later, when the real Shane arrived to tell them that they’d been duped, he did yell at Ben and emphasized the fact that Paige was an innocent victim. Ciara attempted to defend Ben, but Shane was over it. “Hope to hell you’re right about this guy,” an enraged Shane barked before leaving to take down the bad guys.
Over in Switzerland, John, Marlena, Anna and Tony couldn’t believe that they’d been tricked by a fake Shane. Things got even crazier when Carrie figured out that it was ISA agent Kyle Graham who had framed her hubby Austin by sneaking the missing ruby and citrine into his luggage — the same Austin who was still in ISA custody at that point, because the authorities hadn’t connected the dots as quickly as Carrie had.
Soon after, at the Alamainian museum, Billie and John cornered Drew, aka the fake Shane, so he could stop wreaking havoc. And that’s where Kyle revealed his true identity as a double agent who had been working with Drew to secure the jewels for the golden peacock. The figurine wasn’t simply priceless and ornamental, it actually doubled as an evil homing device that could cause explosions, carnage and chaos in cities like Miami and even Salem.
Drew pushed the button on his smartphone to make everything go boom, but nothing happened. Leo had given the fake Shane a fake emerald and unintentionally saved the world. Will, Sonny and Chad got the real emerald from Leo, and Billie and John — with the help of a late-to-the party Marlena — took down Drew and whatever Kyle’s real name was and saved the day.
The ISA released Austin and dropped the charges, and the Alamainian curator dude asked Billie out on a date. Too bad Kristen, who must’ve been working for Drew and Kyle, wasn’t around to see that. Oh, and Paulina’s friend wasn’t Michelle Obama, but the wife of a rich plastic surgeon named Michelle White who lives in “the White house,” so named for their surname. Get it?

Great campy fun. Arizona was by far my favorite part.
I enjoyed it more than the regular show. Zach did a great job as Sonny and I hope Will and Sonny will be featured more going forward. It’s always fun to see Carrie and Austin interacting with John, Marlena, and Anna. All these characters are far more interesting than Ciara/Ben/Rafe/Ava/Roman/Kate. I also loved the sets and Deidre saying the iconic intro. More please!
Acting sucked plot was juvenile and played like a comedy and I’m a fan of Days for 40 years
I totally agree with you. This was like 5 days of the ridiculous April Fools shows.
But you watched it didnt you? okay then
I completely agree. And why was Ciara dressed like a cheap prostitute? I usually like her, but…
IMO, Ciara often dresses like she’s hanging out at a truck stop looking to pick up extra money.
I agree
Agree 1,000 percent!
I could only read it because I don’t have station what I read of it seems good but would be nice to see it.
It’s free to stream. You don’t need a paid account to watch it. Also, don’t bother, the plot was silly. It was like a week of outrageous Passions episodes.
Disagree; I thought it was great fun and gorgeous. Totally uplifting, cray, cray fun…loved it.
It was free to watch but not worth your time.
Can we see more of these please
It was not genuine, they should have done more outside scenes which would have made it feel real and different from the primary soap series.
The storyline was stupid and made no sense. I wanted it because it was entertaining. I fast forward through the entire Miami scene that was the most dumbest part of the spin-off.
The most credible part what Sonny, Chad, Will, & Leo storyline. The were the most entertaining to watch.
I really expected much more from the spin off, I was disappointed. Kristen should have had a big part to the series.
I am ready to see Abby & Chad story continue next week on my favorite soap I have been watching since the age of 9 and I am 50 now.
You really haven’t figured out this whole “soap” thing…. Couple of things:
1- “Genuine”? Soaps hardly ever do that in the normal situations, why would this one be an exception? Locations cost money and now more than ever due to Covid.
2- Storyline? You haven’t been watching soaps for the last 50 years? By now outrageous storylines are a staple of the genre.
(And part of the fun, in my opinion. If you want to watch something realistic and gritty, watch a Nordic Noir without subtitles. If you want some fun, watch a soap.)
Hello Min 4 – agreed. I’m from NYC & Sept 11 was such a sad anniversary. It was lighthearted & made me smile
I could have done without the Miami scene. They do get too much airtime in Salem for my taste twice on Wednesday. I can’t wait for Paulina to get to her wedding day and lose everything again!!! Though the HOT ticket was definitely Zack Tinker SOMEBODY WAKE UP KEN AND RON PUT SONNY AND WILL BACK IN SALEM ON THE FRONT BURNER PRONTO!!!!!!
I really enjoyed Beyond Salem, hoping for another Series
I really enjoyed it, a lot of fun! More please. Loved seeing Will and Sonny again, please bring them back to Days!
Oh, puh-leeze!!! Did the producers not learn their lesson with the previous offshoot?? This was just a contrived fantasy. Even MORE of a fantasy that the actual soap opera!!
I used to be a faithful watcher of DOOL but since they killed off (HA) most of the STARS of the soap, I quit. The story about DiMera having a BASEMENT IN THE NEW ORLEANS area, I quit watching!! It was just too far-fetched. Anyone who pays ANY attention to the news and/or weather KNOWS that basements in that area are an impossibility. IT’S BELOW SEA LEVEL!!!!! Get a clue producers and actually study the geology of the area you are wanting to include in your show!!
Lighten UP! This was gorgeous, uplifting and crazy fun! Stunning sets, great music and just all around entertaining. I’d tune in for this if they kept it at this level each and every time! Literally laugh out loud escapism.
I loved it! It was soapy laugh out loud FUN! Did things escalate very quickly? Yes, but that’s to be expected with only five episodes. My absolute favorite was the stuff in Arizona. I could watch an entire spinoff with Will, Sony, Chad & Leo. Please bring Will and Sonny back to Days ASAP!
Tony and Anna were a delight as always, Shane is still ridiculously handsome, and seeing Carrie and Austin again was lovely. And though it was brief, Kristen was perfection.
The stuff in Miami was fun. It was good to see Lani and Eli in action. The Michelle reveal cracked me up.
I was hoping that ISA agent Kyle would be revealed to be Andrew Donovan so we could get him back on Days, but I was fine with how it worked out.
It was ridiculous and silly and it’s what I needed this week.
I am ready for more come on that was a tease. I have watched Day for as long as I can remember🙏🙏🙏✌✌✌❤❤🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I enjoyed. Thought is was comical and entertaining, especially seeing Chad dressed in drag.
I hope this show will keep going with more story lines this was great!
Loved it. It was campy, yes but most soaps are. I’m surprised by all the hate. As it has been said before, you don’t like it don’t watch. But most of the haters watched all five episodes, and then complained. I hope they continue this format from time to time. Loved seeing Anna who is always underused in the traditional soap.
I loved it! My son watched it too. We both loved it!
It was awful. Please, no more. I’ll stick with the regular show.
The show was interesting and alot of fun it was nice to see some of the original cast members mixing it up. I hope there is more to come.
The next spinoff needs to feature the naughty escapades of Will, nuSonny and Leo. Zach Tinker should definitely be front and center on the mother soap so I hope Ron sees how happy Beyond Salem viewers are with the actor/character! A lot more of delicious Greg R. as Leo is atop my wish list, too. I’m bored with the older characters – it’s time to primarily focus on the next generation! Hard to do since DOOL appears to be gearing up for an Alzheimer’s story arc with Doug before the legendary (and still gorgeous) Bill Hayes heads into retirement.
It was so much fun. Top takeaways for me were seeing Leo and his crazy antics, and the drag show with the guys was hilarious. One thing I was disappointed about is not enough Eileen Davidson. She needed a lot more screen time, but I was thrilled that she was there on a couple of episodes
The drag show was hilarious! Loved it; Carlivati got to do what he’d never be able to do on network TV, and many of the daytime fans would be aghast. LOL. I hope that they’re able to bring over daytime fans who can appreciate this “modernized” soap and advertise it to bring in new eyes. Hoping they could make this a regular show on Peacock. So fun!
Coming from a 40 yr plus viewer…Loved it! It was great seeing old characters. Definitely campy, but that was the fun of it! These days, we all need to be less serious and lighten up a little. It appeared that the actors were having fun being a part of this. Loved Chad in drag, and Leo was hilarious!
Well I’ve never seen days of our lives Beyond steam but I have heard a lot from my mother she’s been watching it for 50 years the fights the drama all of it I am looking forward to seeing it
Was it on for 2 weeks? The description that they have here was not what I saw! There was no ending to it!
It was fun.
I had no idea Shane had a twin, only been watching DAYS for 6 years or so. (I spent 30 + years camped on the ABC soaps). I was getting nervous we were gonna get a mask situation.
Absolutely loved watching this!! Only complaint is how aweful peacock streaming is… But I loved the story line and I absolutely loved seeing old faces!!! Billie, Austin&Carrie and the REAL Kristen 🥰 pretty cool!
I haven’t watched DOOL in over 20 years, but checked this out because I recognized so many of the actors and am a big supporter of any attempt to save or expand the genre. It took me a minute to get used to the writing and acting – I forgot how camp DOOL is, and I watched during Marlena’s possession storyline! – but I ended up enjoying it overall. My favorite part was the Will/Sonny/Chad/Leo storyline, as it was great to see Greg Rikaart play a fun character since he’s so underused on the other soap he’s on. I could watch a spinoff of those guys if they made one. I also got a laugh over the 8 million twists at the end. All in all, I liked it and would definitely check out another one
