In the latest TV ratings, CBS’ Big Brother drew Thursday’s largest audience (3.5 million total viewers) and tied for the nightly demo win (even while ticking down to a 0.7 rating); read recap.
Fox’s coverage of the Purdue-Penn State football game averaged 3.1 mil and a 0.7, tying BB for the nightly demo win.
Over on ABC, Press Your Luck (3.1 mil/0.4) hit and tied season lows, Generation Gap (2.4 mil/0.3) dipped to series lows, and The Con (2.1 mil/0.2) also was down.
The CW’s Bump (350K/0.1) and The Great Chocolate Showdown (440K/0.1) were both up, but I gotta reckon there’s some preemptions goosing the numbers…?

The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. Big Brother is not associated or affiliated with the Estate of George Orwell and is not based on the novel “1984.”
I like Kelly Ripa, but I’ve never seen a more boring game show; and letting the toddler pick the prize is ridiculous.
Kelly is the worst part imo she seems so scripted. The show is fine but I agree the toddler picking the prize is stupid.
If Generation Gap comes back, it needs to fix the format of the show. It’s BS that a team can buzz in to block a team from answering with ZERO penalty. So many of these kids just buzz and say something dumb when the other kid actually knows the right answer.
The toddler picking the final prize is the worst part of Generation Gap; 90% of the time they will always pick the toy. They need to remove that part and replace it with a final trivia game where they have opportunity to win the car and/or win more money.
The pacing of Generation Gap is so slow and boring. Kelly puts no energy or even interest into it. She’s too laid back to make the show fun. She’s phoning it in. That being said, the format itself is weak and has no rhythm.
