In the latest TV show ratings, Fox’s Call Me Kat this week drew 2.8 million total viewers and a 0.5 demo rating, down 15 and 28 percent from its Thursday time slot debut.
Bookending the freshman sitcom, Hell’s Kitchen (2.6 mil/0.7) and Last Man Standing (2.8 mil/0.5) were both down a tick.
Elsewhere:
ABC | Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (7.6 mil/1.1) dipped from last week’s debut yet still dominated Thursday in both measures (with CBS again in rerun mode). The Chase (5.3 mil/0.8) was down about 20 percent from its premiere, while The Hustler (3.2 mil/0.6) slipped 20 and 15 percent.
NBC | Mr. Mayor (3.6 mil/0.5) was down 23 and 16 percent from its premiere averages, and yet Superstore (2.5 mil/0.5) returned steady after an eight-week break. SVU (3.8 mil/0.6) was down a tick.
CBS | Star Trek: Discovery drew its second-smallest broadcast audience (1.5 mil) and hit a demo low of 0.1.
THE CW | World’s Funniest Animals averaged 720K and a 0.1.
The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. Warning: Contents may be hot!

Outmatched averaged the same 0.5 last season was cancelled. Considering Call me Kat is produced by Jim Parsons and stars Mayim Bialik, it’ll be interesting to see which way it ends up going.
Ratings are down season to season, but I think it’s a one and done. Although, I like aspects of the series, Mayim stepped into the character with ease. The ensemble doesn’t quite mesh.
I have not been able to get into the show. I think, being a big fan of Big Bang Theory, I have a hard time going from a brainy monotone character to a bubbly airhead is my problem. I love Cheyenne and Leslie and Swoozie but in other vehicles. I think comparing Mr Mayor to this I would take Mr Mayor.
Call Me Kat may be the worst show I’ve ever seen on television.
Did you watch the pilot for Mr. Mayor? I still haven’t made it through. Knowing that it was originally written as a vehicle for Alec Baldwin as Jack Donaghy, It made me think of the kind of thing that get when there is a writers strike and all they can used are completed scripts.
I agree. I don’t watch it anymore after the first show.
Agree
A 0.1 for a show on CBS primtetime thursday. Ouch!
Not really. You might at well consider the broadcasts of season 1 Star Trek Discovery as spackle. I think CBS is just glad they have something they can air, and hope it draws some eyeballs to the current season of STDiscovery on All Access.

Sensible business purpose, but the affiliates can’t be happy with that kind of lead into local news.
Matt, do we know if the networks share any of the ad revenue they get from on demand, network website streaming, and streaming service streaming with affiliates. They functions as direct competition to local stations for viewers of the same new network programming.
Wow! You hit both B-1 and O-3 on the Fan Excuse Bingo card!
It’s sad because it is actually improving a lot over the course of the episodes. It’s a refreshing, happy 20 minutes thing on tv and it’d be a pity if it gets cancelled because of the initial bad reviews Btw, while I agreed on some points, the most of those reviews really just sounded terribly pretentious. I mean, I still haven’t understood what’s wrong with breaking the 4th wall lol (which has toned down a lot anyway).
I don’t understand what’s wrong with breaking the 4th wall either.
It’s horribly done. You want to break the 4th wall you better do it well like House of Cards or Malcolm in the Middle.
The cast is amazing. The writing is awful and they should drop the 4th way thing because they aren’t strong enough to pull it off.
Mayim as Kat breaking the 4th wall is the best thing about the show.
I do feel the 4th wall breaking is done oddly in this show. In Miranda it was smoother and funnier somehow.
Kat breaking the 4th wall is my favorite thing about Kat.
Again, as a whole the show is struggling, but I think Mayim has had no problems going from Amy to Kat. I think Kat may have more in common with Blossom
Russo than Amy Farrah Fowler Cooper.. The ensemble seems forced. I think if they can find the right balance, it could work. After 3 episodes, I don’t see them moving towards it. Then again, it’s only been 3 episodes.
Yea, done with Kat. Just boring. Mr. Mayor was better this week but still barely hanging on. Though not really it own fault, this whole broadcast tv season has been terrible. So far Transplant Is the only show to stick, and it was an emergency throw-in by NBC. (Good for you Canada!) I only have 1 new show I’m waiting for this season, The Republic of Sarah. (I’ve been waiting for this show since it was originally announced as a CBS pilot with Sarah Drew 2 years ago!)
Honestly, I think Call Me Kat would have worked if they hired a different actor and had better writers of course. Mayim Bialik is not funny and she cant pull of the fourth wall aspect the way Miranda Hart did in the original show. You need someone with a lively personality who can really carry a show, and right now the eps I’ve seen Mayim is kind of just saying her lines with a cheery attitude. Thank you jim parson for your nepotism. Watch the og show guys because this is a great premise, this American version just doesn’t have good writing and a good actor in the lead.
I think Mayim is the best part about the show. It definitely needs better writing. It seems dated.
Best part sure, but it could have been SOOOO MUCH better if someone else was playing Kat, that’s my point.
Mayim is a brilliant actress but she is not a magician. The writing is terrible. I guess Covid is partly to blame as there can be no writers or live audience on the set as planned. I’ll keep watching anyway cos its funny enough for me but I sure hope the writing will get better.
TBH I feel the whole show is miscast. Mayim is a huge let down, and she has no chemistry with her love interest.
The whole show is awful
Kat is terrible. The British sitcom Miranda which Kat is based on is 100% better.
Call Me Kat needs to be revamped. Needs stronger writing and less leaning into Miranda.
I love the show Call me Kat, it’s really funny. It’s kinda different, kinda funky, but my husband and I like it!
Mr Mayor proved to me it is great. Despite some nay sayers. I hope more people pick up on it. It has a great heart and super funny.
Call Me Kat. Works for me. Might need a little more time to find it’s footing.
Call Me Kat seems doomed.
Call Me Kat is close to the point where its more entertaining to watch the ratings drop than watching the actual show. Unless they can significantly improve in the next couple of weeks they will have a hard time persuading viewers to come back.
