The Live+Same Day numbers reported in our ratings column do not reflect a show’s overall performance, given the increased use of delayed playback via DVR and streaming platforms, plus out-of-home viewing. These numbers (Nielsen fast nationals, unless denoted as finals) instead aim to simply illustrate trends or superlatives. This is only an exhibition, this is not a competition. Please, no wagering.
NBC had every opportunity to build a solid Sunday around Magnum. It gave us Dateline reruns and Blacklist which generates no heat. Way to go!
I agree. “Dateline” is NOT something people want to sit down on a Sunday night and watch. People are tired of these reenactment crime stories. I know I am. The news coverage is depressing enough. I like the “Equalizer” but I do NOT watch it to often because I am busy doing other things at 8:pm when it is on. 9:pm is a good time for me to sit down and watch an action packed television program like “Magnum p.i.”. I gotta say it has been lacking in action however since moving to NBC. Last nights episode was fantastic however!!! The week before was better then the 5 episodes before that. It just did not have the punch it had the last few seasons. The romantic stuff between Magnum & Higgins has taken away a lot from the shows action scenes. It may have jumped the shark by making them a couple? I liked their chemistry before they were lovers better. Also, Higgins BF Ethan was nice to look at! He is gone now. Also gone is the comic relief of Gin. I found him to be very funny! One more thing. Maybe it is me but there seemed to be a lot of commercials in last nights episode.
Why did AFHV pop?
“No 9ne wants to sit down on a Sunday night to watch “Dateline”. The evening news is depressing enough. People are tired of reenactment crime stories. People want escapism and a program like “Magnum P.I.” has all that and a lot of heart. I like the action packed scenes! Last night was by far the best episode this season on NBC. Last weeks was very good also! The episodes before that were weak and did not represent the programs essence from previous seasons. Making Magnum & Higgins lovers was a mistake I think. The show may have jumped the shark by making them a couple? The romantic stuff is taking away form the action, story. Also, Higgins has been working on cases without Magnum while he is off doing something else. They have not been working on cases together to much. Last nights episode they were together fighting the bad guys and the show works better like that. Maybe it is me but last night there seemed to be an awful lot of commercials.
