Thursday Ratings: Alaska Daily Steady With Finale, Renewal Decision TBD
In the latest TV show ratings, CBS’ Young Sheldon and Ghosts tied for the Thursday demo win (per Nielsen finals), while Sheldon also copped the night’s biggest audience.
CBS | Young Sheldon (with 7.1 million total viewers and a 0.6 demo rating, read recap) dipped, while Ghosts (6.3 mil/0.6) were both down, So Help Me Todd (4.3 mil/0.3) and that emotionally charged CSI: Vegas (3.3 mil/0.3) were all steady.
ABC | Grey’s Anatomy (3.7 mil/0.5, read recap) ticked up, while Station 19 (3.8 mil/0.5) and “bubble” drama Alaska Daily‘s season finale (2.8 mil and its seventh consecutive 0.2) were both steady. Season to date, Alaska Daily is averaging 5.4 million total viewers and a 0.4 demo rating (with Live+7 playback); out of the 10 dramas ABC has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 6 in audience but ties fellow freshman The Company You Keep for last in the demo.
NBC | Law & Order (4.2 mil/0.4), SVU (4.3 mi/0.5) and Organized Crime (2.9 mil/0.4) each dropped some eyeballs but were steady in the demo.
THE CW | Walker (600K/0.1) hit am audience low.
FOX | Animal Control (1.2 mil/0.3) was steady, while Next Level Chef (1.8 mil/0.4) and Call Me Kat (1.1 mil/0.2) dipped.

NBC is negotiating contracts with Dick Wolf and the cast of both Law and Order and Chicago shows. All shows are doing well and it’s a sure thing they will be renewed.
I bailed on Alaska Daily a couple of weeks ago but if it gets renewed I’ll catch up. I just wasn’t feeling it.
Was very disappointed in the Walker two parter. The pay off just didn’t, well, pay off, lol.
Even if it doesn’t get renewed, I recommend catching up. The overall arch of the season concludes. While they do set some stuff up for if they get renewed, it’s not of major cliffhanger level and can still be a satisfying viewing. I also think it improved as it went along and dug into the season 1 mystery more, while also fleshing out the supporting players a bit more.

It was almost a cliffhanger but more a “we have a lot more to do” ending because they most likely know they were way too weak in the sought after demographic. Hilary is due to deliver twins this month. It will be a while before filming can start again. The writers need to get smarter if it gets renewed.
Fingers crossed AD gets season 2 renewal.
We love this show! Keeping fingers crossed it gets renewed. For one, it is refreshing to watch something that doesn’t have so much shoot ’em up violence. Honestly shows like the Rookie, NCIS, FBI franchises are just so predictable and ordinary. This show is very relatable to current and ongoing issues of our country; small town journalism, news media reporting and justice in combination with a mystery to be solved. We love the variety of characters and think the acting is first rate. BTW – it is one of the few shows we watch on ABC.
Alaska Daily is my favorite new show (along with Will Trent). I like everything about Alaska Daily – casting, acting, producing, writing, storyline, etc. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be renewed. And I am bummed out that it ended so early!

I agree with you all. I think the acting, writing, and story lines are all so well done. I like all of the cast and it has had the most important message to get across about missing Native women, the importance of journalism, and what journalists go through. I hope it gets renewed.
One thing I like about AD is that they cast the series with “ordinary-looking” actors rather than the usual hunks and babes. It gives the show a base of realism missing in many other broadcast dramas.

Alaska Daily is an important show in that it shows what REAL journalism is, something many just don’t care about. Many want to be spoon fed questionable ‘facts’ that agree with their beliefs and be told how to feel about it. AD stresses the importance of credible witness accounts and verifiable facts before going to press.

That’s not real journalism unless you are talking about the state fair. Journalists don’t make a impossible to get a fair trial by telling everything before the lawyers can get a jury selected! The show was pure fiction and propaganda. Journalists are not being violently attacked in the US!
A quick Google search reveals what a bald-faced lie this is, starting with the five people working at Annapolis’ “The Capitol” who were shot to death in 2018 by another lunatic with easy access to guns.

I’ve enjoyed Alaska Daily and I do think it’s gotten better as the season progressed.
My only complaint is there seems to be a disconnect between the main story and the supporting cast. If it’s renewed I hope for some better ensemble work. That way I could remember their names.
I love everything about this show. The writing, the characters, the beauty of Alaska and the chance to learn more about it. Most of all the purpose of the show and the meaning behind real life issues and the lives it affects. This is an intelligent show with substance for viewers that appreciate something actually worth watching and to look forward too. I applaud the creators and all involved in its production. PLEASE REMEMBER…some of the most successful shows in history did not fair that well in its first and even second season. Just give this a chance to gain ground as more people become aware of it. You wont be sorry. Let this be an example what TV can offer an intelligent audience instead of the usual painful nonsense that is being offered for the masses. It is TIME to raise the bar.
While there may be some inserted Alaska scenery, it is filmed in New Westminister, BC, Canada. I do agree that it is a show that has substance and intelligent writing which is so relevant in N. America now.

Alaska Daily finale was phenomenal. They nailed it. The show better be picked up for another season…
This is one of the best shows on tv. The acting is great and the storylines are captivating. ABC would be making a huge mistake if it didn’t renew it.

Might be the lead in shows keeping Daily Alaskan at .4 demo. Renew and create a night like Chicago or NCIS bundles with Alaskan being part for ABC. Most ABC shows suck and this one is just one of a few worth watching
I hope CBS decides to renew Alaska Daily. The fact that it is about excellent reporting on the disappearance of so many indigenous women in Alaska. should be enough to bring it back. Episode 10 was enough to bring me to tears. Please renew it!
I like Alaska Daily but as a limited series not a show that has multiple seasons. I think they used their platform to inform about an important issue but there’s only so much you can do with how the show is written.
I think Call Me Kat shouldn’t be renewed. It had its run but I just don’t see it being a long lasting show.

Alaska Daily is a great drama series. Deals with current issues for the Pacific Northwest.. any Westcoaster can relate to the topics being dealt with in this series. Hillary Swank is a consultant.ate professional and let’s her co stars grow and shine..like a true talent that she is

I just watched CSI: Vegas and I hope Regina Taylor (and possibly also Paula Newsom) is (are) being considered for inclusion in performers of the week. Taylor has always been incredible, and her gruff yet tender performance here was no exception. Newsome’s top moment came when her ex said goodbye at a time she was still feeling quite vulnerable. Both had moments of quiet heartbreak in this stellar episode.
Yes Alaska Daily is the best. Moody, interesting, intelligent, exciting, important. Please renew!
