Fox’s Empire ended its rather steady six-week slide this Wednesday by delivering 6.3 million total viewers and a 2.2 demo rating, up 13 percent and three tenths from last week’s series lows.
Opening Fox’s night, Shots Fired (3.1 mil/0.8) was steady.
Elsewhere….
CBS | With its season finale, Criminal Minds (8.1 mil/1.6) hit a seven-month audience high (largest since Oct. 12) and a six-and-a-half month demo high. Survivor (8.3 mil/1.7) and Beyond Borders (4.8 mil/0.8) each dipped.
THE CW | Arrow (1.65 mil/0.6) ticked up, The 100 (860K/0.3) was flat.
NBC | Blindspot (3.9 mil/0.8) celebrated its renewal by… ticking down. SVU (5 mil/1.1) and newly renewed Chicago PD (6.2 mil/1.3) each rose a tenth.
ABC | Speechless (4.3 mil/1.1) was steady, The Goldbergs (5.2 mil/1.3) and Modern Family (5.6 mil/1.6) each dipped a tenth, with doubly-renewed Mod Fam hittting a new series low; black-ish (4.8 mil/1.3) ticked up with its finale. Designated Survivor (4.9 mil/1.0) rose a tenth from last week’s low.

I like that Blindspot celebrated its renewal by ticking down. So did Modern Family but nice that DS went up on a bad night all around for ABC. And also nice that Empire rebounded a bit. Good for CM, now it has caught up to MF as well in demo
ok not a bad night for Blackish
That’s how I want my Cookie!!! FIERCE!!!! It was the return of the old Cookie!!! Taraji P. Henson killed it last night!!!
Happy about Blindspot getting renewed?
It was a surprisingly GOOD, edge-of-the-seat episode. It made me almost agree with the renewal. They need to just accept they ruined Jeller though, and stop acting like they can just go back.
Just curious, why/how do you think they ruined Jeller?
Now is the time to pay attention to number of viewers and not demos. Demos have dropped on everything, this year especially, and if networks renew shows solely on demo this drop will continue. Make the demo 30 to 59 and you may have a figure that makes sense in todays world. Who do advertisers think has the money??
You’re right Boiler, but nobody’s listening. That fact that shows are being renewed with these awful numbers just tells me that the big broadcasters have given up.
Why hasn’t SVU been renewed yet. I can’t see NBC canceling it before season 20, to match the original recipe’s run.
Finally an uptick with Arrow
What’s the word on SVU’s renewal? What is taking NBC so long?
Maybe budget/contract considerations?
Yay, “Criminal Minds”! Glad they ended their season strong.
