WWE is bringing back the World Heavyweight Championship!
Paul Levesque, aka Triple H, announced this week on Monday Night Raw that the coveted championship will make its return after a decade in retirement. The title was unified with the WWE Championship back in 2013. (Note: Randy Orton was the last person to hold the title.)
Addressing Roman Reigns’ current Undisputed WWE Universal Championship run, which is nearing 1,000 days, Levesque noted that Reigns has limited the frequency in which the title can be defended.
“And while that is great for Roman Reigns, it is not great for WWE,” Levesque said. “WWE deserves more. You need more than that. That is why a few weeks ago, when I talked about the WWE Draft, I said that the draft would change WWE at its very core. Because when Roman Reigns gets drafted to whatever brand he gets drafted to, he will take the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship with him, and he will stay there. The other brand will determine a new champion.”
The Chief Content Officer also unveiled the title’s new look (which you can check out above) and revealed that a new champion will be crowned at the Night of Champions pay-per-view, set to take place on Saturday, May 27.
“This will be a champion you can respect, that you can admire,” he added. “This will be a champion that will defend this championship anyplace, anytime, all over the world. This champion will not have to demand your acknowledgement. This champion will earn your acknowledgement, and will earn the title of World Heavyweight Champion.”

Finally!
Finally get a championship that’s begging of a champion not done cartoon looking belt thank looks like something cheaply designed by a blind person with a box of crayons.
It’s about time they have a new champion for the other brand. Roman reigns boring can’t win a match one-on-one without his family interfering. Same result every title defense is boring it’s lame.
that’s called being a hero and protecting the baby face. Flair did it the same way for decades

After 39 I lost my teast for wwe. Yes if you never defend ya you can go forever.
It’s about time that WWE give us the fans what we want. I didn’t like the idea of having all the belts in one show. I be watching WWE from the attitude ERA and having the belts on both shows is best for everyone. Having the belts on one show is not good for business. Also I like what triple HHH is doing ever since being in charge. With all respect to MR. McMahon. But that’s my opinion. MR. McMahon did everything for us the fans but now is for fresh blood to take over and deliver to us the fans. Remember without us there is no wrestling.
I wonder if Roman is getting ready to leave…
Finally the WWE Universe will have a great champion whoever becomes champion at Night Of Champions, and Roman can keep his precious titles and defend it whenever he chooses.
Good idea by HHH.
Great idea, finally something for us to look forward to watching. The world heavyweight championship belt has always been held by a fighting champion. I like what Triple H said about Roman Reigins. It’s hard to believe as tough as Roman is he can’t all his matches by himself. I’ve been waiting for the return of Randy Orton. This would be a good time and I really like the way the new belt looks.
I don’t understand how you can have what is essentially two world heavyweight titles. Reigns is the Heavyweight Universal Champion, even though the word heavyweight is not used. I think it is time for a new champion, but question if this is the way to do it.
Another stupid idea. You consolidated both belts and now you want to create a third? Reigns has two belts so just make him lose one. Same bs with the tag team belts. Wwe is really struggling with creativity and is boooring
No. Still too fake with too much cheating.
