What We Do in the Shadows Renewed for Season 2 at FX
Well this doesn’t suck: FX has renewed What We Do in the Shadows for a second season.
Airing Wednesdays at 10/9c, Season 1 of the acclaimed vampire comedy has four episodes remaining (landing the finale on May 29). Season 2 will debut in 2020; an episode count is not yet available.
“[Executive producers] Jemaine Clement, Taika Waititi and Paul Simms have more than delivered on the high expectations of Shadows fans by adapting the cult classic [movie] for television and building a passionate base of new and returning fans,” FX Original Programming president Nick Grad said in a statement.
In 2019 to date, What We Do in the Shadows ranks in the Top 5 among 34 cable comedy series, including in the Adults 18-49 demo and in total viewers. Across all platforms and airings, its first five episodes have averaged an audience of 2.81 million viewers.
This Wednesday’s episode promises “an extraordinary lineup of guest vampires” as Nandor (played by Kayvan Novak), Laszlo (Matt Berry) and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) appear before an international vampire tribunal who gather to judge them for the death of Baron Afanas.

I have the same ambivalence that others do here, but I would rather have this show on than off. Give it some time to improve. I appreciate what they’re trying to do, but it never goes beyond a nod of the head in amusement than actual laughter. Still, as always, I travel hopefully.

That was my first thought! It had to grow on me at first, but by episode 3 I was loving it. My favorite character is Nadia. I love her asides and narration so much! And – Poor Guillermo! LOL!
Really? Why? I had to force myself thru the 5 episodes I watched. Never saw the movie & I’m definitely NOT in the 18-49 demo so maybe that’s it.

It’s an insanely great comedy if you examine the intertextuality is draws upon. Take for example the scene where Nandor & Toby (werewolf) duel. It’s hilarious how it subverts the paradigm of the traditional American western that romanticizes one-on-one duels. It had me rolling when Nandor threw that chew toy off the balcony.
I record it and watched that scene about 4 times I laughed so hard!

They improved on the movie. These characters are wonderfully funny. My favourite comedy since Schitt’s Creek finished it’s season.
They renew something stupid like this and when something good is on they cancel it. WTH.

You do realize you can’t “generalize” renewals because a show cancelled/renewed on one channel has nothing to do with the fate of “good or bad” content on other channels..
Also this show rates well, stupid or not… this renewal was a no-brainer really.

I love this show. It’s so silly.
I found myself the other day walking around and thinking in Matt Berry’s voice “BAT!” when I hit a queue of people.
This show has really grown on me. The last episode had me laughing all the way through. Then the animal control one was freaking hilarious. Only one episode had me questioning my interest in this. Anyway, I’m glad it got renewed. Hopefully, it can improve on some of its weaker moments and grow.

There is stuff that doesn’t work with this show but there’s lots that works too..the cast is good..love Nandor and Guillermo. I never fail to laugh when they are together. My fav episode to date was when Laszlo was picked up by animal control..the chaos lol
