Talk about a no-brainer! Often, as we head into the Semi-Finals of The Voice, we can’t quite guess who will win. But in Season 23? Pfft. It’s as plain as the cowboy hat on NOIVAS’ head.
Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and rookie coaches Chance the Rapper and Niall Horan each have strong performers in the Top 8. Yes, we could grumble about a couple of contestants that we wish were still in the competition. (Lookin’ at you, Team Niall’s Michael B. and Team Chance’s Kala Banham.) But, complaints notwithstanding, the lineup for the Semi-Finals is pretty damn good.
Yet that changes… nothing. Team Niall’s baby-faced Ryley Tate Wilson generates a big audience reaction. Team Chance’s Sorelle is always pep-perfect. Team Kelly’s Holly Brand delivers vocals that are as flawless as her makeup. And none of them come even close to commanding the stage the way that NOIVAS does. Not only does he sing like a man possessed, but his presence is so electric, he comes off not like a wannabe but an already-is.
Plus, there’s no way that Blake’s fans aren’t going to ensure that he gets a 10th win in this, his final season in a red swivel chair. It’s the only fitting ending to his incredible run as the show’s GOAT. And though his country singer Grace West is good — like, really good — she lacks the “OMG!” factor that might allow her to pull off an upset.
As we head into the live Semi-Finals (Monday at 8/7c on NBC), vote below for the singer you think will win — and the one you want to win.
Well, my top 3 are NOIVAS, Gina, and Sorelle. I’d be happy to see any of them win. I totally agree with your analysis, Charlie. I think NOIVAS will take it. But, DAMN, Gina’s rendition of “Wicked Game” was my favorite performance since Jackie Foster and DR King killing “Sign of the Times” in Season 14. I love Sorelle too, but if another group were to win, The Voice would probably either ban groups or change the name of the show to “The Voices.”
Grace should wim it all.
Gina is winning in the “who do you want to win” category so maybe she has a shot.
Does it matter? for real? I mean, to the contestants it obviously does. As a matter of pride (and paychecks), certainly for the judges. But has there ever been a bona fide star who has come out of the competition? Anyone?
I’m not saying there haven’t been, but I cannot think of a single one. There are a number who have been nominated for all kinds of awards including Grammys, and a couple of others who are well known in certain genres like gospel but is there a star? Or is being a “star” beside the point? Perhaps it to launch a career instead of Carrie Underwood/Jennifer Hudson level stardom?
Yes are you forgetting Kelly Clarkson??
Noivas is dynamic. Noivas is unique. Noivas is confident. Noivas is interesting. Noivas is the winner.
Gina is amazing–I would purchase her music.
i would also.
I kept rewinding and watching Gina sing again, it was a stunning performance. Was blown away by her…
you know i didn’t even think about NOVIAS becuz i was overwhelmed by ryley and gina.
Gina and Ryley seem like babies compare to the rest of the Artist.
Good but they got lots of time. To make it little young for me
