As The Flash hit the midpoint of its final season, a visit from Nia Nal aka Dreamer brought much drama, but also some updates on Supergirl and a few of her superfriends.
For starters — and as set up during Ryan Wilder aka Batwoman’s recent visit to Central City — Nia (played by Supergirl‘s Nicole Maines) showing up unannounced at Central City Citizen Media to ask Iris for help wasn’t entirely random. Because apparently, Iris took Ryan up on her offer and recently — albeit off-screen, grrr — joined Ryan, Nia, Kara Danvers/Supergirl and her sister Alex/Sentinel for mimosa brunch.
Nia and Iris were soon pulled into some mysterious dream realm, leaving their bodies unconscious at the Citizen and then at STAR Labs (which really needs some proper medical personnel after Caitlin’s death!). And while Barry, especially with pregnant Iris in danger, would have welcomed a helping hand from any of Nia’s friends, especially those familiar with her Dreamer powers, that turned out to be easier said than done.
To recap: When last we tuned into Supergirl, Kara via an exclusive Cat Grant interview had been revealed to the world as Supergirl… J’onn J’onzz was heading up a reconstituted DEO… and Brainy (Brainiac 5) opted not to return to the future but instead stay put in there here and now, to be with Nia.
Alas, when Barry thought to reach out to any of the above, Chester reported that they are all now “off world” and thus unable to lend a hand — which was of course convenient, though especially odd to not have Brainy of all people get involved/concerned in Nia’s crisis. Bar then sped off to check in with the Justice League at large, but… that did not pan out either, grrr.
On the bright side…? Once this crisis (which was actually a test of sorts for Nia, conducted by the OG Dreamer) was resolved, it was made clear that Nia and Iris will continue to have regular brunch dates with Ryan, Kara and Alex.
Provided no one has to go “off world,” I suppose!
What did you think of Nia Nal’s visit to The Flash?
What’s the update exactly? A hand wave of current location is not really a life update on its own. Kara and J’onn were “off world” during Armageddon too
Probably on that Krypton Settlement on a rock
Or an tropical planet lol
I mean we heard Brainy is gone.
What the actual hell, this episode was HORRIBLE, absolutely horrible! This was the 7th episode, and there have been more filler episodes than actual episodes that should be wrapping up the stories of the Flash. As a loyal fan since the start of the show, I feel like the writers just don’t care and are putting out pure **** to get the series done.
i apologize if my message is posted multiple times, it wasnt showing up so i not sure what happened.
Agree 100%. I was just saying to my sin what is going on with these last couple episodes?
Wasn’t anywhere as bad as you put it as nor as the previous one before the break. The story was engaging and we got to see how the other cast members in different kind of roles.
Also this is just the 2nd “filler” episode out of the 5 main canon ones besides that this one focused Iris’ character in a more meaningful way.
There are only 13 episodes this season. None of them should be filler.
💯
the show is called the Flash, its the final season and ALL the episodes should be about Barry and wrapping up storylines. im tired of the “woe is me” storyline with Iris, Candice checked outta this series a long time ago and the episodes focused on her boring. all the episodes this season should have Barry as the focus, but for some reason fans forgot that the show is about him, not Iris, or Allegra, or Cecile, or some c-list “superhero” from a cancelled series, or Chillblaine, or whatever pointless character Danielle Panabaker is playing this season.
This is what eric wallace brings to the table nothing but bad story telling and nonsense episodes ever since he took over at season 6 it has been the same BS and people have tuned out
Now I’m hoping that the series finale will show Iris at that brunch, and Nia, Kara, Alex, and Ryan are all there too.
seriously?
Supergirl had an actual ending. Few people cared about Batwoman comparatively. Where’s our Legends wrap-up? C’mon! It even ended on a cliffhanger!
This is exactly what I was thinking! The showrunner claimed he couldn’t give Legends an ending because this was a short season but they’ve spent half the season wrapping up storylines for a very unpopular show and another show that was given a proper ending! And it involved two characters from these show that no one who watched The Flash really care about. What now? Are they going to wrap up an ending for that other short-lived show, Naomi, that no one watched?
Naomi is a separate show and not related to the Arrowverse.
Seriously? We get this for a show that got a full final season? And they’ve said point blank that they are going to ignore the characters from Legends of Tomorrow, which actually spun off directly from The Flash.
I guess this proves that Legends of Tomorrow is the red headed step child of the Arrowverse. I mean, I always know that, but this just proves it.
And, for the record, this didn’t give us any real updates on the rest of the Supergirl characters. Just Dreamer. Mentioning them a couple of times isn’t an update.
Don’t expect Supergirl and her Superfriends to be in The Flash series finale because they will be off planet again.
Supergirl or entire Justice League are always off world when needed. What is even point of mentioning them now? I get we can’t have any of them to actually appear, because of the actors. But them being off world during any crisis, is lame excuse. And even though was good to see Nia, it was no point to bring her back. Her story was wrap up well enough in Supergirl
I was actually looking forward to this episode because I like Dreamer, but it was just another disappointment. This show has gotten so bad. That fight between Mark and Khione at the bar, with everyone chiming in, was just so lame. I also find it a little disturbing that no one seems to care that Caitlyn is dead. Frost is the only one who’s ever mentioned. I mean, what the heck?!
Wow I’m happy I didn’t waste time watching this episode. I swear it’s like they just phoned these episode scripts in.
They never should have gotten another season!
I’ve watched The Flash since day one, but didn’t watch a single episode of Supergirl. So, this episode was a wasted hour for me.
Yeah every episode so far this season Has been a waste of time. There is nothing so far that feel like a final season it’s all filler and nothing there
I don’t know if there were things going on behind the scenes but for a final season it feels very much like a box ticking exercise with no heart behind it. There’s no reason that there couldn’t have been better stories utilising batwoman and dreamer. The reaction or lack of reaction to Caitlins death is strange, especially in light of how big the reaction was to snow’s death. The show, actors and characters deserved a better send off.
I’m on the other side of the tracks, so to speak: huge Supergirl fan, but never watched a non-crossover episode of The Flash. It is, unfortunately, not a huge shock to hear that The Flash is getting such a shabby sendoff since both Warner/DC and The CW have lost all interest in these shows. (Anyone who saw the Supergirl series finale will remember that underwhelming ‘final battle’ that never actually happened, heh.) Oh well, see ya over at Superman and Lois for a few more months ’til they’re gone too.
This fokes is eric wallace in a nutshell
1. The flash takes a back seat
2. The flash never defeats the big bads
Iris basically beat mirror woman, The forces defeated evil nora, RF defeated godspeed, frost defeated deathstorm, RF basically beat himself, Batwoman defeated red death
3. Trying to make iris more imprtant than she is
4. Big bads who turn up and get defeated in 1-2 eps
Ever since he took over its been bad story telling and worthless big bads and the ratings since season 6 has dropped every season
I still can’t believe they killed off Caitlin and the reaction has been the equivalent of a shoulder shrug. I’m finding it quite hard to invest in anything this season, because of that one insane decision.
