Get ready to enjoy one more moment of Zen: Stephen Colbert is getting the old Daily Show gang back together on CBS’ Late Show next week.
The mini reunion will air Tuesday, May 9 (11:35/10:35c), with Colbert welcoming his former Comedy Central colleagues Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, John Oliver, Ed Helms and Rob Corddry for a “special night of comedy and conversation,” CBS announced on Wednesday. (Gee, I wonder what — or who — they might have to talk about? Hmmm…)
Colbert was a Daily Show correspondent from 1997 to 2005, and remains tight with his former boss Stewart, who’s an executive producer of Colbert’s Late Show and appears on the show from time to time. Bee, Oliver, Helms and Corddry all served as correspondents alongside Colbert, with Bee (TBS’ Full Frontal) and Oliver (HBO’s Last Week Tonight) currently hosting political-news comedy shows of their own.
(As great as this reunion sounds, we have to ask: Where’s Steve Carell?? It won’t be a true Daily Show reunion without both halves of Even Stevphen in the house.)
Planning to stay up late for some Y2K-era political nostalgia? Drop your thoughts in a comment below.
I was thinking the same thing about Steve! But they’re still super tight, so maybe Carell’s off filming something and can’t join. Too bad though, it’s not a true reunion without him
Me, too! It won’t be the same without Carell. Even Stevphen 4-Eva!
Be cool if Carell managed to make a surprise appearance somehow. Even if he can’t be there, though, I imagine they’ll find some other way to give a shoutout to him or something.
.
This sounds awesome. I can’t wait for this :D.
WOW! All that liberal smugness all in one place. And why does Colbert still have a job after using a gay smear about President Trump? And where is GLAAD, while were talking about it?
Trump’s gay?
I don’t think either side is lacking smugness.
Maybe it because it wasn’t a gay smear. Don’t worry you can watch Fox when this is on while the rest of us enjoy ourselves.
Right?
No Larry Wilmore?
They’re celebrating the 20th anniversary of Colbert starting with TDS. He’s having the guys he worked with as guests. Wilmore started shortly after Colbert’s departure, so it doesn’t really make much sense for him to be there.
So excited come May 9th.
This must have been mentioned a while back because I went to set my dvr and I already had it programmed and I can’t remember doing it. Really looking forward to it.
Steven talked about it on The Late Show on Monday. That’s the first time it was mentioned.
Bring.
It.
On!!
The Pantheon of Cool…
I want to throw up on all of those sleaze balls. Got it!?!
“Where’s Steve Carell??”
Haven’t you ever heard of a surprise guest?
It appears that Steve Carell is currently filming the movie “Beautiful Boy,” in which he has top billing.
I used to enjoy Colbert, loved Stewart and Oliver has been a hoot as well. Colbert went over the line, like Baldwin and I realized how smug and self righteous they all are and they have a platform given to them by people who obviously have no boundaries, not a bit of respect for viewership at the least and really over confident of their opinion and importance. He wouldn’t have dared do the like to Hilary with all the PC police objecting, not to mention had he gone over the line with Mr. Obama it would have been considered hate speech and perhaps a civil rights issue. CBS had better take a good look at who they promote. I’m done!
The beauty of America is that you have the choice not to watch as well as voice your opinions. And I have the choice to disagree with you, or even not to care what you think. MAGA
You would be making too many assumptions in any case. The use of vulgar slurs are over the top in that context. I’d like to have seen that kind of low level diatribe toward any other President. It was offensive in the extreme. You don’t care what I think? Fine! You obviously have no boundaries.
No other President would behave the way the current one does to earn these kinds of jokes.
Bill Clinton was a dirty old man in the White House with a subordinate, or more than one. Sure there were impeachment hearings but the comedians never went to crass and vulgar. Lots of other examples but obviously you don’t understand boundaries. I wonder if Les Moonves is bothered by this debacle, even if he doesn’t like the President, it smears CBS.
Yes, Clinton was a slimy scum-bucket (and his wife helped to smear the reputations of many of the women that he sexually harrassed), but Donald Trump is a pathological liar and a sociopath who will get us into a devastating war with some other mentally ill world leader before his four years are up. As much as I loathe the Clintons, I never worried that they were going to getting into a piddling match with that other nutjob in North Korea.
Also, if you think the late night comedians never went to crass and vulgar with Billy-Jeff, then I question your boundaries, because I remember jokes about Monica and Bill ranging from simple fellatio gags (pardon the pun) to jokes about cigar insertion…and THAT was a couple of decades ago, when our standards were quite a bit higher.
I’m with you Diane. I really used to enjoy these stand-up comedians. However, they have become unfunny, and mean. I want a laugh, not constant political rants. I understand it won’t change, as everyone panders to their base politically, but can’t we just have a little humor without the constant attacks? People are naive to think that Trump is worse than any other President. He never lived a life grooming himself for a political career like others have, so did not keep hidden his bad behavior. Kennedy went to great extremes to hide his affairs. Anyway, I find very little entertainment in this current batch of TV personalities.
#45 AKA, Pussy Grabber, has brought this on himself…remember his language on the bus. President Obama and Hillary Clinton have never spoken like that in public. You know the rule, you get what you give…AKA KARMA? Get your panties out of a wad. If you don’t wish to watch it…simply turn it to another channel…for now, it is still a free country we live in. Peace.
