Trent Crimm, The Independent, is now Trent Crimm, member of the White House Press Corps.
Jason Sudeikis and the cast of Ted Lasso arrived at the White House Monday to meet with President Joe Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden to discuss the importance of addressing mental health to promote overall wellbeing. Their visit included an appearance at the daily press briefing, where Sudeikis took a question from one of Coach Lasso’s toughest critics.
“Trent Crimm, fake journalist,” portrayer James Lance said as he introduced himself to Sudeikis and the rest of the press pool. He then went on to ask the Kansas City native how he feels about Kansas City, also the birthplace of Ted Lasso, being named one of the hosting cities for the 2026 World Cup. You can watch Sudeikis offer an answer below:
Earlier in the press briefing, Sudeikis reiterated why he, along with cast members Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Toheeb Jimoh (Sam Obisanya), were on hand to meet with Biden.
“No matter who you are, no matter where you live, no matter who you voted for, we all probably… know someone, or have been that someone ourselves actually, that’s struggled, that’s felt isolated, that’s felt anxious, that’s felt alone,” he said. “And it’s actually one of the many things, believe it or not, that we all have in common as human beings. That means it’s something that we can, and should, talk about with one another when we’re feeling that way, or when we when we recognize that in someone feeling that way. So, please, we encourage everyone — and this is a big theme of the show — to check in with your neighbor, your coworker, your friends, your family, and ask how they’re doing and listen.”
Excerpts from the President and Dr. Biden’s meeting with the cast are expected to be released on the White House’s social channels later today. In the meantime, hit the comments with your reactions to the press briefing.
That is so friggin cool!!!!
Love that they are there with the President and First Lady, bringing attention to an important issue.
Typical republicratic government. A shiny distraction for the masses while they stick their hands in our pockets and sign a bunch of bills without our knowledge until after the fact.
Hey, Jean-Pierre, if you’re the new puppet, at least learn the words to “I Got No Strings.”
What color is the sky in your world?
If you trust anything the government says or does, I could ask you the same thing.
Sorry you’re so miserable -and we don’t want your company.
And yet you commented!
This is bad optics at this time. It has nothing to do with politics too.
If you are a D or R you are probably hurting right now. There’s crisis around the world, a former President may get arrested, the economy is struggling and you think now is the time to bring the cast of an overrated dramedy to do a gag?
Preach.
Bad optics? Wild since every day we have one or more mass shootings and people yell about the need to address mental health..
So, here they are, trying to talk about addressing mental health and that makes you bent?! It’s not a gag, duh
There’s always a crisis somewhere, the former President earned being arrested (and for people who believe in addressing crime, that’s a win!) and the economy is always up and down.
Good grief.
Ridiculous. If the president and First Lady want to talk to people about mental health, then perhaps they should talk to mental health experts, not television actors.
This wasn’t a fact-finding exercise for the President and First Lady. This was a promotional event.
They would not risk having a mental health professional anywhere close to Biden since that person would surely notice in him the signs of dementia and tell the press.
I was reading about the disgruntled /disruptve jounalist in attendance… sounds the Press Secretary had her hands full.
For context he has not been called on during the ENTIRE Biden Presidency. Not once whether it was KJP or Jen Psaki. I don’t approve of him shouting and making a scene BUT it is not an instance of “wait your turn”. MSNBC, FOX, CNN, ABC, they’ll get called on every day. He never will.
No one takes a press Secretary seriously. Just the latest in a long line of dancing sock puppets.
A lot of commenters seems to missing the issue of stigma. Mental health and especially men’s mental health is still stigmatized, which still keeps people from seeking help. Ted Lasso is helping with that component. Normalizing not being ok and seeking help is something that is necessary or it is going to keep people fighting alone and in some instances dying.
That being said, better access to mental health for those seeking it is still an issue as well.
Thank you! So wild people are so bent over it.
Since TV was I censored, shows have used the platform to address issues we face – after school specials. Very special episodes of shows.
It creates discussion and data shows has an impact.
And oblivous to the fact that this was just one tiny part of efforts around mental health. It’s just that this one is talked about here because this is a TV site. Unfortunately, too many people get all of their information from reading only headlines and not going to actual news sources.
