Stranger Things Season 4: Here’s How Many Episodes We’re Getting
The Duffer Brothers have apparently determined how much time they need to tell Stranger Things‘ next chapter — and, once again, eight appears to be enough.
Although Netflix declined to comment, TVLine has learned exclusively that the Netflix’s phenom’s recently-ordered fourth season will likely consist of eight total episodes. That’s on par with the episode counts for Seasons 1 and 3, but down slightly from Season 2’s nine installments.
Meanwhile, we can confirm that Season 4 is slated to begin shooting in January and will likely wrap in August, which essentially rules out the possibility of the series returning this summer.
In announcing Stranger Things‘ renewal back in September, Netflix dropped a teaser video that all but confirmed what was widely suspected, coming out of the Season 3 finale: that with Will’s family having moved to a new town and a possibly-alive Hopper holed up in a Russian prison, “WE’RE NOT IN HAWKINS ANYMORE.”
Matt and Ross Duffer previously hinted that Eleven & Co. may be able to take a short cut to Russia from the States, with Matt telling EW.com that Season 4 will “open up a little bit… in terms of allowing portals into areas outside of Hawkins.” While not confirming the existence of an express pathway from Hawkins to Russia (and vice-versa), Ross did acknowledge that the new season is “going to feel very different than [Season 3],” adding, “I think that’s the right thing to do and I think it’ll be exciting.”

From january to august, why 9 months?? it seres ti me like a long time
that might include post production which alone can take months
If you think of it like a normal TV series, it might seem like a lot of time. However. The series is produced more like an 8-hour movie. Imagine filming four 2-hour films back to back, and it doesn’t seem like that long.
With a show that has this many VFX shots, it’s really not that outrageous.
Looks like a Stranger Things holiday next year,bet anything it comes out in Nov or Dec

Im pretty sure theyve already started filming, at least second unit stuff. Tons of production already kicking up in the usual area, and even some cast spotted.
Nope…they haven’t started at all. Cast hasn’t been anywhere near an ST set since last year at this time and those are other productions for other films/shows.
The whole concept of PORTALS from the linked TVline article is WRONG. The original EW article says PLOTLINES, not PORTALS. Plotlines opening up and portals opening up are COMPLETELY different. The original article says this:

The TVLine article from July referenced here says ” “…open up a little bit… in terms of allowing portals into areas outside of Hawkins.” ”
This was a MISQUOTE and now TVline is basing two articles off the concept of portals, when this was never actually mentioned by the D. Brothers.
And here I was clutching plugged in 30 year old Christmas Lights trying to find out if anybody in the Upside Down knew when Season 4 was going to drop! Lol

It will maybe go out in 2020, for now I firmly agree to the Duffer Brothers I had ideas that maybe there will be gates from the upside down that will also open up outside hawkins (just like from S1 where Nancy entered from Mirkwood)and I also have a suggestion of Susie to also be a part of this series since she only had one scene from S3.
The portal thing was debunked already.
