Sex/Life Cancelled at Netflix
The steamy Netflix series starring Sarah Shahi has been cancelled after two seasons, TVLine has confirmed.
As previously reported, Shahi is set to lead the ABC pilot Judgement as a lawyer being vetted for the Supreme Court.
Sex/Life followed Billie Connelly (played by Shahi), a wife and mother who, after growing tired of her boring suburban life, began journaling and fantasizing about her passionate exploits with ex-boyfriend Brad. Season 2 ended with Billie’s ex-husband Cooper planning to propose to his girlfriend Emily, and Sasha tying the knot with her longtime love Kam. It was at Sasha’s wedding that Billie ran into Brad, who revealed that he broke up with his girlfriend Gigi and never stopped loving Billie. They eventually wed, and Billie told an elated Brad that she was pregnant. (Read our full recap here.)
In addition to Shahi, the series starred Adam Demos as Brad, Margaret Odette as Sasha, Mike Vogel as Cooper, Jonathan Sadowski (Young & Hungry) as Devon and Li Jun Li (Babylon) as Francesca.
During a podcast interview earlier this week, Shahi openly criticized Sex/Life‘s sophomore season, saying that the production process was “definitely a challenge” and she “did not have the support that I did in the first season from the people involved in the show. It became a much different thing for me — and I’m not afraid to say that.”
Shahi also said she “struggled with the material” in Season 2, including being “bummed” about her lack of screen time with co-star and real-life boyfriend Demos.

Not surprised. I mainly watched it because it was filmed in Toronto. 2nd season wasn’t great but I will miss it.
Season 1 was good. Season 2 was a train wreck but at least it got an ending.
This is so confusing because the end of Season 2 was basically a series finale.
Sarah Shahi’s shows always get canceled. Aside from that though, maybe this is why she was so vocal about her dislike of Season 2.

Season 2 was a boring mess and given that Brad and Billie got their HEA, what more was there to show unless they started with new characters?
Airing grievances in public rather than to execs is just TACKY. Not to mention pretty and passive aggressive. People like her should never be worked with again.

I liked season 2 and seemed to be quite wrapped up.
Season 2 was horrible. It was all over the place. Season 1 was really good. Don’t know what happened but it felt like I wasted time watching it.
I didn’t think there was anything beyond season 2 the ending was good. I enjoyed both season 1 and 2 enjoyed each characters evolution.
Can’t believe they axed it. Thought it had a strong following. Granted the first season was stronger. All the best to all the cast and crew.
I’m bummed that there won’t be another season. I really wanted it to continue and find out what will come next. I hoped another streaming service would pick it up.
I feel like she only wanted to make this show so she could spend time with her new boyfriend. The first season was only ok anyway, I couldn’t get through the second episode of season two. Her ego is starting to get a bit over inflated.
It’s a definite bummer that the show was canceled I loved the first and second season
