It’s the end of the road for Recovery Road.
Freeform has cancelled the series after one season, TVLine has confirmed.
Executive producer Holly Sorensen broke the news via Twitter on Friday evening.

The drama, which debuted shortly after ABC Family changed its name in January, followed a high school teen as she entered a sober living facility. It wrapped its freshman season on March 28.

I understand you are upset, but it is not better than Shadow Hunters. They are both a 10 out of 10.
I hope we get a wrap-up movie or something. They left us with a bit of a cliffhanger in the finale.

Wes getting arrested, after him and Maddie finally share their feelings for one another. Rebecca leaving the house when she’s caught with those pills, that we’ll never know why she actually needed them. Cynthia’s ruined marriage and the son she never told anyone about.. **** Freeform
We do know why Rebecca needed the pills, she said why. It helps her stay sober. It was Suboxone. Assuming you dont know what that is, a lot of opiate addicts take it during recovery to stave off withdrawals and to help keep away cravings. Its an opiate blocker so if you were to use say heroin on top of your sub dose you wouldnt feel a thing.
Right…..Stupid Freeform left the show with a big cliffhanger and it’s killing me

Yeah a two hour movie is the least they can do for the fans. I just binged the whole thing and then found this out. No bueno.
Me too! I’m so disappointed to only now be reading it was cancelled. Lesson learned. Before binging on any tv shows, I will research them to ensure I get a few seasons out of them first!
Well duh .. this is going to come out wrong, but UGLIEST cast on tv, and no personality to boot. If you’re going to be on a network like FF you don’t need acting skills but better look photogenic. This cast not so much

No I didn’t say that. What I did say was, “UGLIEST cast on tv”, I couldn’t get past that aspect to tell you anything else about this show. Cast ugly I didn’t watch …. apparently no one else did.
Wow, I had no idea that people had to be beautiful for a show to be successful? If that’s the case, your TV show list must be pretty short. How exactly do you go outside everyday? I mean when you see a not so pretty person do you turn away and look at the wall? No, you’re probably the person who stares at people with disabilities and laughs at them which proves that you are one of the UGLIEST people known to man.

As for this show, I enjoyed it as much as I loved Switched at Birth. It was nice to see a teen show that focused on real issues and not fantasy. Of course that’s the exact reason why it didn’t make it. I mean it had higher ratings than Stitchers and it got renewed. Such a shame.
Fortunately for me most casting directors are as swallow as I am. Hence I have few trouble of my picks to watch. And really… in “real life”, grow up I cannot control that. I can however control my remote bye bye ugly and dull.
The reason the show got cancelled most likely because of people not being able to handle what happens in situations like theirs. They want to just think doing drugs and drinking alcohol are fun. News flash its not with your choices come consequences whether there good or bad ones and people are not ready to handle that.

that’s just stupid, both the lead actors were part of Skins and their characters are widely loooved. Honestly is people shallow like you that get good shows cancelled, go back to watch teen wolf, gossip girl or whatever.
I am just seeing that Recovery Road was cancelled because I came to see when season 2 was going to start. I am so very sad and mad that they would cancel this very good show. What is wrong with them? First they change their name to arguably the worst name for a network ever, then they drop this quality show. Why did Netflix or someone pick it up????

Stupid thing to say. They look like real people. I too like watching shows with pretty cast but thought that the reality of this subject really needed a real looking cast and very quickly I was able to see everyone of the casts individual beauty and for once I wasn’t sitting in judgement of how they dress or how their hair and make up looked. This show was awesome and if it was cancelled because of shallow people and their shallow opinions that is such a shame. The majority of viewers are not shallow

The whole Freeform launch has been a disaster.
This is why I’m very reluctant to watch anytihng on Freeforn formerly known as ABCFamily. I will never forgive them for cutting Kyle XY after that writers strike way back when. I’m also still fuming over the loss of The Lying Game. Also look at how they are treating Switched At a Birth for their final season. I was going to give this show a shot but with a schedule conflict Iwas unable to. Thank goodness now. I would be livid. But shows like Pretty Little Mess and The Stupid Life Of An Amreican Teenager go on forever.

But it went way past its expiration date. The show was bad. I wasnt referring to just current shows airing. I was explaining the very real difference between how certain shows are treated in comparison to others. Bye.
I feel the exact same way. Kyle XY and The Lying Game could have been given a Final season but they just cut them off. I canceled my cable after the switched at birth mistreatment and haven’t looked back. Hopefully the show will still be on Netflix when the Final season is released as I’ll have to rewatch the show to remember what was going on.
I know they are taking forever with switched at birth. I don’t even know why they are cancelling it. Oh wait because, its not their creation. So stupid, their still making money.
This was SO GOOD! Better than any of the abc family/FREEFORM shows I’ve watched so far. So sad that it won’t continue, could have gotten even better with time.
the cast is good… maybe netflix or other network would pick it up or something (honestly the actors of Skins / Misfits are freaking amazing, almost everyone is doing great things)

Or even Hulu.. Hulu was in talks of picking up Nashville if CMT didn’t since they already own rights to it anyway.. like they picked up the Mindy Project.. I love that they can pick shows up now because when TV drops the most amazing shows they usually end up somewhere else

I can’t believe they cancelled recovery road. I love that show and i walk looking forward to season two. I am so sick of these people starting these shows, knowing that people are going to like them, and just not finishing what they started. They’re always getting our hopes up.
So true I just wish it never got canceled. Only show I really watched on tv. I thought it was canceled but I kept looking and looking for it. But nope. Had to be canceled. This sucks
Whyyyyyyyyyyyy? I loved this show they need to bring it back it was real life issues being talked about I guess some people can’t handle real another good show bites the dust.
The show was worth a second season and dramas take time to develop attraction. Looks like this last year not many new (er)shows are getting a green light.
This was a good show with a fatal flaw: The lead actress couldn’t act. She was just as flat and dull as it is possible to be and the show rested on her. Too bad, the other young people were generally pretty good actors and some of them were really good.
Actually in my opinion i was she not a bad actress she played in the show skins and she was a sweet character her and the wes cahratcer did great in the show skins . and i personally loved this show . i was left wanting to see more i hate how they ended this show they could have ended it better at least .
Decent show, not as good as the first seasons of SAB, the Fosters or Chasing Life though. Can’t blame Freeform for cancelling a show when the viewership was never over 491,000 for an episode.
Wow, I can’t believe this. this is just awful, this show was actually a pretty good depiction of addicts in recovery and it was just fresh and different for freeform. I hope this show gets saved somewhere else or they came to their senses, which that I know isn’t very likely. Atleast give us some closure.
They probably could have advertised it a bit better. I saw the trailers all the time and never watched the show (but I watch pretty much the entire Freeform lineup). The main girl came across as such an unlikeable person in the trailers…I just had no interest in watching more of her indulgent behaviour. If they had, I don’t know, altered that a bit in some way, I likely would have watched.

I expect there were a lot of people like me in this case. People who watch SaB and Fosters *should* have watched Recovery Road….but didn’t.
They really ought to have just done a Girls United spinoff like everyone wanted.
Why cancel Recovery Road. I just found it and I work with Teen addicts THEY told me about it. They love it 😞
This show was great. I could watch it with both my teen girls AND it was smart. 10 episodes is really unfair to base an opinion on. Bad decision but then again, so is it to make us wait 1 yearfor SWITCHED AT BIRTH to finish its run. Why not just cancel all your shows?
disappointed, this was actually a really strongly written show about REAL EVERYDAY PROBLEMS.
Well, this past season’s crop of new shows failed for me for the most part. Of the 13 new shows I stuck with this past season 7 have been renewed–Quantico, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Blindspot, This Life, Fuller House, Shadowhunters and Mercy Street. The jury is still out for Code Black and Colony. Game of Silence, Recovery Road, Grandfathered, Blood & Oil and Containment were cancelled.
I was truly digging Grandfathered. So bummed about that one.
I don’t understand why they canceled a great show finding carter and now another. 😤

The Freeform launch really seems to be messing up what worked for ABC Family. Between this and what they’re doing to Switched at Birth (TEARS!), I’m really disappointed with the reboot of this network.
This crazy wtf i really enjoyed this show it not cool how other show that are not teen related issuse gets to get go on forever and this one they not even going to bother giving it another chance take risk damn
