It’s game time on Peacock.
An NFL Wild Card playoff game will stream exclusively on the streamer this season, airing in primetime on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, the league announced on Monday. This will be the first NFL playoff game ever to be available exclusively on a streaming service.
“We are thrilled to partner with the NFL on this industry milestone, bringing to Peacock the first ever exclusively live streamed NFL Playoff game,” Pete Bevacqua, Chairman of NBC Sports, said in a statement. “As Peacock continues to grow, nothing says ‘must-have’ programming more than live NFL games. With the regular-season schedule revealed last week and today’s announcement, we can’t wait for the 2023 season to kick off.”

Which of today’s TVLine Items pique your interest?
Really? Primetime? The staurday night ratings must be sucking
They are always very high. Which is why I am assuming Peacock wanted that time slot. It is usually the playoff game with the most name recognition of the star players. I will skip the game because I am not going to not pay for the service but I assume they are banking on a lot of people at least paying for a month to see the game.
My summer tv is going to be busy. I am so excited for Dark Winds. Loved the first season.
Locking playoff games behind a streamer subscription service stinks. This was inevitable I guess but going to stink when other leagues copy the concept and more games are added as exclusives to other streaming companies. Eventually you’ll need a sub to every service to see playoff games.
Well unlike the NFL the other playoffs already aren’t exclusively on OTA channels. NFL playoffs has been exclusively OTA channels as each game is elimination and they make it muse see tv thats easily accessible to everyone. MLB on the other hand already plays playoff games on FS1, ESPN and MLB in addition to OTA channels ABC and FOX, the NBA currently has played playoff games on NBA network, TNT, ESPN in addition to ABC(their only OTA channel which very few playoff games are broadcast on).
Peacock is just a stupid name for a streaming service. Just call it NBC+ and be done with it.
lol yeah sure. Replace what you call a stupid name with an even stupider (and much lazier and more uncreative and overused) name. What a swell idea.
Sometimes I swear I’m the only one who likes the name Peacock. It’s cute and memorable. Only thing I dislike is it seems to be the one streaming service we can’t access in Canada.
Hulu isn’t available either.
True, though most Hulu stuff is available through Disney+ and Star at least. Can’t find Peacock shows anywhere without using VPN.
Sometimes I wonder how boring people’s lives are that they have the time and energy to get cranky about the name of a subscription streaming service…I mean come on
It’s a great name and still evokes the brand easily… I think it’s one of the better streaming names
There are some message boards that I have visited that won’t let people post Peacock, because of the four last letters of that streaming service name.
I was watching an old Perry Mason episode with closed captioning on, and because part of one of the closed captioned words spelled a vulgar word, those letters were crossed out. How hard can it be to write software to verify if a word is vulgar or not. All they would have to check for is the entire word itself, not just a part of the word.
I don’t need closed captioning, but I do find it hysterical to watch it and see how horribly they butcher the dialogue.
As for NFL streaming. I didn’t signup for Amazon and I won’t sign up for Peacock.
This made me think of any time Kelly Clarkson had someone on/talked about Schitt”s Creek and they had to show the poster for it every time.
Really looking forward to Dark Winds. It would be nice if they gave a date in July.
People are going to be pretty mad about this. I don’t think the subscriber base will be there. Once I no longer get Peacock because of being a Comcast/Xfinity subscriber, I won’t pay for their commercial service and guess a large chunk won’t either.
I actually got Peacock for the first Halloween movie that was released same day on streaming versus the cinema. I liked the service so much I kept it. Plus, it has all of the WWE content on it, which my brother likes. Then, we found out we got a year for free through Spectrum. I think Peacock offers crazy good annual deals, so if people really want the service, look for the deals around the holidays.
I’ve found that I can watch Amazon’s Thursday Night Football game on the NFL Network about an hour after it airs on Prime. Perhaps I will be able to do the same thing with the Wildcard game 🤞🤞
Yes and also you can watch Amazon prime games for free on twitch because Amazon prime owns it
Happy that SWAT will be on Netflix. I have a feeling they may continue the show after its 13 episode final season on CBS
It’s only a matter of time before we have to pay to watch the Super Bowl, really sad.
