Another high profile Republican is distancing himself from Donald Trump.
TVLine has learned exclusively that New Girl‘s out-and-proud conservative Schmidt (Max Greenfield) will reveal in an early Season 6 episode that he will not be voting for the incendiary Republican presidential candidate. However, don’t assume that means he’ll be crossing party lines and supporting Trump’s Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.
“Schmidt doesn’t acknowledge there even is an election this year,” reveals co-showrunner Brett Baer with a laugh. “He doesn’t acknowledge that Trump exists. He says multiple times throughout the episode, ‘Paul Ryan 2020!'”
The episode — slated to air Sept. 27 — finds staunch Democrats Jess and Cece hot on the campaign trail for Hillary. And Schmidt is having none of it. Teases Baer: “I think he calls Hillary a flip-flopping, pantsuit-wearing helmet head.”

First of…Mac?
Secondly, didn’t Jess admit to Nick in Ep 303 (yes I’m a nerd!) that she was in the Green Party?
Fixed.
If this year has shown us nothing else, it’s that who your party has nominated in 2016 may have nothing to do with who you decide to support for president.
A lot of third-party supporters vote for one of the established parties for the presidency as a third-party vote would otherwise be wasted and the greater of two evils could come into power.
Cool. Just makes me want to vote for donald trump.
Jar!
No, its not the show that’s making you want to do that. Its the vacuous space in between your ears that’s causing that.
Fake Republican on show written by far right Hollywood types isn’t voting for Trump? You know why? TV characters can’t vote!!
I can… New Girl? Let’s see what else is on TV *click*.
And what’s the actor saying about it? I have no problem with fictional characters being dems/reps. But endorsing or condemning actual candidates in an actual election year on a fictional show? I don’t think that’s such a good idea. After all, it’ll be Max Greenfield’s and Zooey Deschanel’s faces making these endorsements.
If someone can’t filter an actor and a character, they shouldn’t be watching TV.
Maybe someone should mention Gary Johnson…don’t know if Schmidt would go for that but maybe one of the others could.
I hear people on both sides talking about Gary. Nobody is happy with the choices we have and I think we are starting to see that the 2 party system is a disaster. Voting for the viability of a 3rd party candidate might be worth it in the long run.
Or we can pray for the zombie apocalypse. That’s what I’m doing. 😋
Personally, I’m rooting for the vampire apocalypse. It won’t actually be very apocalyptic, since vampires have a vested interest in keeping humans healthy and happy, and actually have the brains to realize this and make it happy, unlike zombies (if they HAD brains, they wouldn’t NEED brains, right? *g* ) Once the vampire overlords are in charge, there should be a marked decrease in war, poverty, and pollution… and an even more marked increase in creativity from Hollywood, because it’s easier to to keep the cows, I mean humans, happy with fresh, new ideas, rather than reboots and remakes and “reimaginings” that have nothing to do with the source material…
