NCIS: Los Angeles will get a proper sendoff from CBS, by way of the previously announced two-part series finale and a retrospective special.[pmc_inline_gallery]
In Part 1 of the finale, which is titled “New Beginnings” and will air Sunday, May 14 at 10/9c, the ATF seeks help from NCIS to investigate stolen military-grade weapons and locate a missing agent. Elsewhere, Callen and Anna continue to plan their wedding… Rountree’s sister interviews for medical school… and Sam encourages his father to take part in a drug trial.
One week later, in “New Beginnings, Part 2”– which will air an hour earlier than usual, on Sunday, May 21 at 9 pm — the NCIS team continues that case with ATF, while Callen and Anna decide to pull the trigger on an impromptu wedding.
Might any past team members manage to get themselves to said impromptu ceremony? No returns have been announced, though there the buzz is that there a familiar face or two will RSVP.
As for TVLine readers’ No. 1 wish for the series finale — to see or at least hear from Linda Hunt’s Hetty again, after so protracted an absence — Gemmill in a recent interview stopped short of saying that Callen & Co. will embark on a mission to find their MIA boss. “But it’s put in motion,” the EP allowed. “We are going to have steps taken to resolve Hetty’s storyline in a way that I hope leaves fans feeling excited.”
Following Part 2 of the series finale, at 10 pm, there will be a one-hour Entertainment Tonight special titled A Salute to NCIS: Los Angeles. The Kevin Frazier-hosted retrospective will feature footage and interviews with cast members from the past 14 years, plus new interviews, favorite memories and behind-the-scenes moments.
“Wrapping up a series is always bittersweet,” NCIS: LA showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said in a statement. “We were blessed to have 14 seasons together, so bringing it to a satisfying end was extremely challenging after so many years. Fortunately, CBS was gracious enough to give us an extra episode in order to send off our characters in a way befitting their stories that hopefully the fans find both satisfying and hopeful.”
NCIS: LA’s farewell season will tap out after 21 episodes, while overall the first NCIS offshoot will have served up 322 total episodes.

Eh. Just bring Hetty back for good, have everyone be alive and basically happily ever after, and I’ll be good.
This!
Wait, wouldn’t 21 episodes this season leave us with 323 total episodes? Last season ended on 302.
Also, rather bummed there is no mention of Kensi or Deeks in these reveals! I’m hoping that means there are good surprises coming for us viewers?!
Per CBS, just now: 21-episode season, 322 total episodes. (My abacus is in the shop.)
🤣
So, CBS can’t add lol? It’s 323 episodes with the extra episode included. 😅
I still can’t believe that my favourite in the NCIS universe is ending. I’ve found this season to be really funny as well as heartwarming. Kilbride is truly a softy inside that gruff exterior.
I find it odd they would put Part 2 of the finale in a different timeslot. Why not put the retrospective at 9pm and Part 2 at 10pm?
More people will watch at 9pm. I think they will assume people will be in bed by 10pm. Love ratings go down as the night goes on. I know it’s all about streaming but the programming makes sense for May 14th.
They should have NCIS part one at 8.00 pm and part 2 at 9.00. A lot of people go to bed early.
CBS didn’t do right by NCIS: LA
Why cancel NCIS Los Angeles? So heartbroken since it was announced..
I find it hard to believe that CBS is canceling NCIS LA and renewing NCIS Hawaii. I tried to watch NCIS HAWAII and after 2 or 3 episodes I gave up.
Everyone should have known when NCIS LA was moved to Sunday night it was going to be canceled. CBS 10pm time slot is where all series on CBS that are moved there are canceled. Remember the Mentalist anyone? I quit watching NCIS LA when the show was moved.
CSI: Miami too :(
I miss so…
The show was moved to Sunday in Season 7 in 2016. This is Season 14, so I think they did pretty well on Sunday night, considering half the show’s life was on Sunday. Also, they didn’t get cancelled like shows normally do. They decided to end the show on their own terms, most likely before it got cancelled, due to budget restraints and low viewership.
Yeah, they certainly held their own and maintained quite respectable ratings and viewer figures, given the lousy night it was scheduled on, and the very late time slot. Which kinda makes you wonder how good LA’s ratings *could* have been, had CBS not moved it to Sundays, and allowed it to air on the same night as the Original Show. Perhaps someone was concerned that LA’s ratings might have actually “overtaken” those of the Original show, which could have upset a few people and so they moved LA to a more challenging night where it wouldn’t fare as well.
My favorite show. Love the personalities between the characters which made it so fun to watch. Very sad to see it end. You guys were the best ION TV show. Will miss you greatly. I wish you all could come back.
I think Eric and Nell will be the RSVP surprise at the wedding. Zero indication of Hetty’s return anywhere (Linda Hunt didn’t even show for the wrap party). Above it states what the last two episodes will be about, no rescue mission anywhere. Storyline is old and done anyway.
There’s also an Instagram picture of the boatshed set being broken down and underneath it, there was a caption that said “Hetty” with a broken heart emoji next to it. That says enough.
Would like to see Rosa gone and Kensi being pregnant.
The “other shoe” has never dropped on the real reason for Linda Hunt’s continued absence. Although we will likely know eventually, I do wonder if she elects not to work or is unable to for some reason. She has filmed short scenes only 2 or 3 times since her July 2018 car accident, once from her home driveway. The story at that time was COVID prevention.
Hetty should’ve “retired” years ago. Dumb of Scott Gemmill to keep her character around when she never shows up.
Yeah, I don’t get why CBS and LA’s Show Runner are *still* playing these ridiculous Where’s Hetty games with the fans. We’re not a bunch of children. I’m pretty sure we can handle the truth as to the reason Hetty hasnt made a screen appearance since episode 1 of Season 13. I wish they’d just give it to us straight and quit with the nonsense.
I initially thought Linda may have chosen to refrain from getting vaccinated which would likely have put her in violation of CBS’s Company Policy and meant she could no longer work on the show. I also considered there maybe some sort of contractual or financial dispute going on that hasn’t yet been resolved, or perhaps the Show Runner and actress are at a stand still over creative differences.
We will find out eventually, Im sure.
Kevin Frazier is lucky to have a job. Just find footage of the Super Bowl press conference with Katy Perry and the stunt he pulled at the beginning. Had I been his boss, I would have fired him on the spot for his unprofessionalism.
NCIS LA should Not be canceled! CBS what were you thinking! This is my favorite of all the NCIS series. I can’t believe it is coming to the end!
Been a fan since season 1, but the show’s been going downhill since season 10. Time for it to end. Perfect that the writers are tagging Callen and Anna’s wedding on at the end like an afterthought. That sums up the way his character and their relationship’s been treated by the writers for a long time. Bet Kensi will be pregnant because the writers won’t disappoint Densi fans.
Love NCIS LA – my thing with so many ncis y not transfer actors that wanna instead of jobless ? My heart broke 1st with ncis new orleans now this – love wat each n every character brought to us – thx guys (n gals)
It would be great to see Hetty, Eric, and Nell in the finale. Maybe Callen could have been employing Eric and Nell to help him track down Hetty!
I’m thinking the same thing
Please, happy endings for all. We need happy these days
I have stop watching all NCIS except for NCIS LA. I am so disappointed hearing about the end .

Want them to stay on TV. You are taking away good tv. Bring Hetty back have everything well.
Show Runner Gemmill stated:
“Fortunately, CBS was gracious enough to give us an “extra episode” in order to send off our characters in a way befitting their stories that hopefully the fans find both satisfying and hopeful.”
So my take on that statement is that without CBS’s graciously gifted Bonus Episode, our beloved NCIS LA characters wouldn’t have gotten the fitting send off they all deserve???
Ok! Firstly, I have to say I’m less than happy with CBS for the appalling way they have treated NCIS LA. And I think their graciously provided *1x Episode Bonus* (Woop Woop!) is shameful and shows just how little they care about the Show, or its fans.
Secondly, How the heck has R. Scott. Gemmill managed to keep his job as Show Runner???
He shouldn’t have needed a bonus episode to get things wrapped up. Heck, he’s known since late Season 12, that the show was at risk of being cancelled, and quite likely at short notice. So he’s had ample time to get with his Co Producers and Writers and work to ensure that all the still-dangling storylines (despite how he personally feels about them) are suitably concluded and all the *main* characters (not just his personal favourites) get the proper attention, both on paper and on screen, that they deserve!
Thank you so much for 14 seasons of action, laughs, tears, good actors and good writing. Sad that it’s coming to an end but leaving all of us with great memories! Sunday nights will never be the same! Love to all of you! 💕
It is too bad that CBS is canceling such a good show, while leaving NCIS Hawaii in place. LA has always been a great show with excellent actors and good storyline. They should find a way to keep it.
Glad this NCIS is finally ending. The last 2 years have been awful with all the social justice issues that had nothing to do with the story lines! Also tired of the Callen Russia connections. Series was much better when Hetty, Nell, and Eric were around. I still like Sam (my favorite of the rest) but the others just lost me. The original NCIS is so much better, and loving NCIS Hawaii…both have lots of action and focused on the Navy, as they should.
You can’t end NCIS-LA. I have this show ever since it started, never missed a one and now you are ending it. Noooooooo
Being it back. Special Hetty
We hat the fact that you’re taking NCIS LA if the air.
We don’t understand how you can take away wholesome programs and shove down our throats, the gay thing, screwing each other. We don’t care, people are gay, but we shouldn’t have to put up with it. After all, we don’t protest or say look at us, we’re straight. We live out lives quietly. It’s gotten so bad that we went back to watching old programs.
We quit watching late night programs because of the bullying in the commentaries
And other programs because of all the cussing and sex. None need to hear and see that stuff.
