Mando, meet Lizzo. Lizzo, meet Mando.
Four-time Grammy Award winner Lizzo has shared her deep-felt reaction, as a longtime Star Wars fan, to being cast on The Mandalorian.
Lizzo appeared in the April 5 episode of Disney+’s flagship Star Wars series as The Duchess, one of the elected leaders of the democratic planet Plazir-15. Partnered with fellow guest star Jack Black’s Captain Bombardier, the Duchess among other things led Grogu to somersault into her arms to enjoy a kipper, as well as benefit from the li’l guy’s Force powers, which were discreetly deployed to help her win a game of space croquet.
Closing out her guest spot, Lizzo’s dynamically costumed Duchess knighted (Sir?) Grogu.
“As a kid, my dad showed me Star Wars like a rite of passage,” Lizzo shared on Twitter, along with several BTS photos of her with fellow guest stars Black and Christopher Lloyd (who played a sketchy security chief). As such, “When I got the role of The Dutchess [sic] I cried all day. Dad, I wish u were here to see this!”
“Thanks to everyone in the Galaxy I am now part of the ever-expanding saga of the stars,” Lizzo noted, adding two go-to Star Wars/Mandalorian sayings: “This is The Way,” and “May the Force be with U.”

Lizzo also shared her Grogu-centric take on the popular “How It Started/How It’s Going” meme, below:

Disappointed she didn’t end the tweet in the obvious way….
“I have spoken”

Well done on removing that idiotic comment!
Her music is not my cup of tea. Go figure , I’m an old guy. But she was great on this episode, and I’d look forward to her character returning. And hoping her Dad dug it also.
I don’t care for her either but I agree…she was a great addition to this episode. Looking forward to more of “CSI: The Mandalorian.”
It’s hard not to be happy for someone who was so happy to bet there. Is she the greatest actress in the world? No. But she loved it and that made me love it.
I loved her in this, and I also enjoyed Christopher Lloyd. I really have a hard time seeing Jack Black not being Jack Black though – like there’s always just this little smirk. And it works for him in many of his comedy roles – new Jumanji, Goosebumps, School of Rock, etc. It didn’t quite work for me in this episode. Like, I got excited about Lizzo and Lloyd but then was able to see them as their characters – I never aw Jack Black as his character. Hopefully they can improve on that if he returns because I’d love to see Lizzo return.
See I felt both Lizzo and Jack Black didn’t really work and partially both have the other to blame. Jack Black did what Jack Black often does and overacted, which works fine most of the time but you absolutely need the right person for him to play off and Lizzo’s acting levels didn’t allow her to be that so Jack just didn’t work. All while his slightly OTT acting made her acting which may have seemed fine beside someone else seem wooden.
Both could have been great additions to the Mando and greater Star Wars universe but those two roles as a pair were just wrong imho
I love Lizzo! So happy things have been on the up and up for her. She seems like such a genuine person.
I got the impression she was having a really fun time playing the Duchess. And she did exactly what the show asked her to do. She was a fine combination of innocent and clueless, like most royalty would be in her position.
.
Jack Black played Jack Black.
She great I love her and wish her many more blessings
I love Lizzo, but I found it distracting seeing her. I find that really recognizable guest stars make it hard to pretend I’m right in the middle of the Star Wars universe. I’m also looking at you, Jack Black! Interestingly, I didn’t have the same problem with Christopher Lloyd.
So they just put anybody in this?? Wow I lost a little respect for Star Wars franchise.
