Even after 13 years, TVLine readers aren’t ready to say goodbye to Mystic Falls just yet.
As the May Upfronts draw nearer (undoubtedly bringing a bevy of heartbreaking cancellations with them), we asked you to name as many as four yet-to-be-renewed shows that you hope to see picked up for another season.
And as of Friday morning, when our poll closed with nearly 200,000 votes, it was Legacies — The CW’s second spinoff of The Vampire Diaries — that led the pack with a resounding 20.9 percent of your votes.
Through the first 13 episodes of Season 4 (for which Live+7 DVR data is available), Legacies is averaging 760,000 total viewers and a 0.2 demo rating, down 25 and 33 percent from its Season 3 numbers. Among the 19 scripted hour-longs that The CW has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 12 in total audience and is in a nine-way tie for third in the demo (besting CW bubble shows Charmed, Dynasty and 4400).
Airing Thursdays at 9/8c — where it leads out of The CW’s most-watched series, Walker — Legacies is a show that its faithful fans tend to catch up on, though. Its 111-percent (!) audience gain with Live+7 playback represents the biggest bump of any CW series.
With The CW having far and away more “bubble” shows than ever for this time of year, it is perhaps no surprise that two more of the network’s dramas placed second and third in this year’s throwdown (which is where the real nail-biter took place): Batwoman (with 11 percent of the votes) and Legends of Tomorrow (with 10.9 percent).
Among sitcoms in our poll, ABC’s The Conners fared best, followed by Fox’s Call Me Kat and ABC’s Home Economics.
Meanwhile, at the other end of our 30-show survey, Fox’s Welcome to Flatch quickly latched into last place and never gave up, as one of seven shows to not even muster one percent of the votes.
Fun fact! Seven of the Top 10 shows in our 2021 poll wound up getting renewed, while that year’s champ, Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, was gifted with a Christmas-movie encore on Roku. Similarly, out of last year’s Bottom 10, only three (B Positive, Kenan and Young Rock) got handed additional seasons.
Check out the full poll results below, then drop a comment with your reactions!
Wasn’t tje CBS drama “S.W.A.T.” on your original poll list? I seem to remember voting for it some list.
Yes, but it was renewed later that day, and thus removed. –Mgmt.
The Resident is not on the bubble. You’ll be seeing The Resident for a long time.
Good. Fox just saved their network.
Agree totally!
Define a long time.
I love how the top 4 shows are CW shows. People don’t think we watch but a lot of us watch CW just most people binge it in the streaming services or DVR it.
I LOVE “Devils” on the CW. Looking forward to season 2 in June.
That’s been the CW’s model for a long time and it builds loyal audiences as seen in the poll. Hopefully the shows get renewed soon.
I hope “Legacies” gets renewed too. Last night’s episode was excellent. I hope the “Vampire Diaries” Universe lasts for many more decades.
Many people DON’T watch CW shows. I have it on good authority that streaming and recorded shows are counted in the ratings systems.
The reason the CW shows have more votes in this poll likely has something to do with the types of people who watch them and the types of people who vote in internet polls. Your standard “The Connors” audience likely isn’t spending its time scouring the internet for useless polls since they have better things to do with their time (like paying their adult children’s bills).
“You” have it on good authority? Who are you and why should anyone care what you think? Please tell us who this authority you heard from told you this…please? In that case I also have on “good authority “ that many people DO WATCH CW shows other than live. CW shows are always on the Netflix’s Top 10 shows of the week list and those don’t come out until after the season so it’s impossible to be counted in the ratings. Netflix spent a lot of money on the CW shows bc a lot of people watch them.
You shouldn’t care what I think. What I think matters exactly as much as what you think: absolutely zero. Luckily for me, I wasn’t telling you what “I think”. I was telling you “what is”. You can learn from it or continue to be completely ignorant; the world will continue to spin regardless.
Being ignorant is a choice. But you’re just stupid. Unfortunately for everyone that has to tolerate you, there is nothing that can be done about it. Because you can’t change stupid.
The people who “have to tolerate me” are perfectly happy with my intelligence level. It only seems to be a problem for random people on the internet who enjoy being wrong about easily proven facts. If only I were smart enough to try and find some kind of pattern there…
Dude, what on earth are you talking about? I watch both Legacies and The Conners. I watch more shows on The CW that I’d care to admit.
I’m sorry for your bad taste, but unless you count as “many people”, then that has no bearing on my comment.
I’m a bit confused – you last Magnum on the bubble here – yet, on the renewal scorecard, it is showing as a “sure thing!” Please advise…
I believe they included any show that has not been renewed yet. The “Sure Thing” was the prediction from several months ago, and is still just that, a prediction.
I want BATWOMAN renewed. It’s a must because it the only show as of now that the lead is a women of color since The Watchmen has been cancelled. Furthermore the writers, actresses, actors and other stage hand ( stunt double, makeup, prop people…ect) still have so much more to say and do.#BATWOMEN4LIFE #WILDMORE4EVER
Totally agree with you!!!
What’s Naomi then?
I kinda just want Legends to come back so they can wrap it up
Only shows I care about on that list are The Resident, The Goldbergs, The Conners, but my husband would like Legends
The Top 4 was basically my top 4…. although I do really want a 5th with Home Economics, which I really enjoy. I love The Conners too but that’s not really a show I’m worried about too much, same with others like The Resident or Magnum.
Legacies, Legends, Dynasty, Batwoman in that order for me….. Legends needs a final wrap up season or I can see petitions not seen since Lucifer/B99 or maybe even Chuck levels. Legacies could go a few more years, creatively anyway (last night’s episode proved that) but ratings not so much. Dynasty needs that Moldovian wedding cliffhanger to happen this season finale (chronologically it’s where it happened in the OG, especially now Amanda is there too) so a resolution to that. And I honestly think Batwoman is so much better with Javicia as the lead, actually a good actor….and unlike Supergirls final season, it’s storylines about race and discrimination didn’t feel forced and shoehorned in but felt natural and compelling.
Dynasty Moldavian massacre probably won’t happen unless Amanda marries a princess,
Legacies made my cut too, along with Magnum PI, Big Sky and The Endgame, as the dramas I’d most like renewed. Call Me Kat was my top comedy pick.
The only one I want renewed is Magnum.
Yes. I love danielle tussle as hope. It’s a great show with tons of more potential!
Agreed. So much more story to tell.
like what tons of potential?
I can’t see the poll results, and the same thing happened when I tried to vote in the original post. Anyone else not seeing it?
If your browser has enhanced tracking turned on, you won’t see the results. This also prevents one from seeing voting choices. For Firefox, there is a shield on the left side of the address bar. Left click it to get a drop down menu where one can turn off enhanced tracking. Hope this helps.
Thanks for that! That worked. Good to know. :)
Glad to see The Resident do so well!
Thank you so much, this solved a problem I’ve been having with another site!!!!
Rooting hard for Batwoman to get renewed.
So am I.
It’s been canceled
In order of preference:
Big Sky
Legends
Magnum
Batwoman
Next year consider setting up two polls – one for dramas, one for comedies.
“The biggest bump of any CW show” seems to keep changing like the days of the week.
Legacies and Nancy Drew are typically neck-and-neck, yes.

It’s then a lonnnng way to third place.
👍👍
This is great news & bodes well for “Legacies” & The “Vampire Diaries” franchise as a whole, not to mention that last night’s episode did well in the ratings. It also shows how people continue to underestimate this franchise.
Right on. Totally agree.
This pole means nothing on the scheme oc things, legacies still having netflix deal should secure some sort of extra year, unless cost has got out of control. The show rates around the same as all other cw shows no matter where they put it. It’s not a hit, but outside of superman, America, walker and maybe stargirl nothing is above a .1 on the network. My guess is most of the rest cw/netflix group will get a 10 episode season, with lower budgets.
I can see the poll results from the 2021 article, but not this year’s results. Odd.
good for legacies im proud of them, im not even being sarcastic they legit have improved alot lately
I want legacies renewed
#RenewBatwoman how can I vote
I want “Legacies”, “Charmed” & “Batwoman” to be renewed, as well as “Stargirl” & “Roswell.”
That depends on whether you want your vote to actually mean something or not. The only way to cast a vote that’s actually useful is to watch the show, but I cannot in good faith suggest doing that since telling someone to watch Batwoman is a war crime.
I didn’t vote for nothing on CW. I don’t even watch nothing on CW.
So with two double-negatives, are we to assume that you only voted for and only watch The CW?
Home Economics. None of the others interest me and I don’t watch them.
I voted for Legacies, Batwoman and Legends of Tomorrow so I’m happy with the results. That these three shows are even in danger of being cancelled is ridiculous. You can tell there are still people watching these shows and very interested in seeing what happens next. Even it’s just for final seasons, these shows deserve an ending!
Yes, but I believe they deserve to go on for many more seasons. There is so much story left to tell in both of them.
There are “some people” that watched Cuties, too. Just because there are a handful of people watching a show doesn’t mean it deserves renewal. In the case of Batwoman there are literally 13 people with a ratings box in their house that watch it right now. That is not worth renewing a show for (plus, their writers need the time off to take writing classes).
So did netflix money suddenly dry up, with the deals in place I can’t believe cw would cancel any of their older shows.
The network is on the verge of being sold off, so renewals this year are not a given.
all these shows stream except for dynasty and legends stream on hbo max as once hbo max launched, many of the shows are dc properties and distriubited by warner brothers tv so they decided they would go with there own streaming partner
Yep, I get it all the new shows over last 3 years are on HBO max or paramount, but the netflix deal is guaranteed revenue, where as hbomax and paramount is just a after effect, the reason cw has been harder on their newer shows.
The selling of net, would probably slow down newer offerings, unless they were confident it would make a great streaming show. Most likely cw would just be looking for some more reality or Canadian imports to fill in schedule as they wait for sale
