Amanda Rollins might be DUN-DUN! with the Special Victims Unit, but the Law & Order franchise isn’t done with her.
We’ve got your exclusive first look at the former SVU detective, played by franchise returnee Kelli Giddish, as she kicks off a three-episode SVU/Organized Crime crossover on Thursday.
The photo at the top of this post shows Rollins and SVU‘s Capt. Olivia Benson at a crime scene with Det. Elliot Stabler in this week’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. The episode, titled “Shadowërk,” is the first installment of the show-mingling event, which will culminate with the May 18 finales of SVU (Season 24) and OC (Season 3). “When DNA from an SVU rape investigation connects to an OCCB unsolved murder,” “Shadowërk’s official logline reads, “Stabler and Benson uncover a revenge-for-hire scheme on the dark web. While Bell and Jet follow the money trail to expose the website’s anonymous creator, Stabler asks Professor Rollins for help with a key clue.”
As TVLine exclusively revealed in April, Rollins will be pregnant during her OC and SVU guest-star stint. In the final episode of Giddish’s run as a series regular, Rollins married Assistant District Attorney Dominic “Sonny” Carisi in an impromptu courthouse ceremony attended by their co-workers. She then left her job as a Special Victims Unit detective to take a teaching position at Fordham. (Read a full recap of the episode.)
Rollins’ departure coincided with Giddish’s, which she confirmed ahead of the Season 24 premiere. “I wanted to address the chatter I’ve seen online and let everyone know that this will, indeed, be my last season on Law & Order: SVU,” she wrote at the time. “Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life. I’ve been so fortunate to be a part of the Law & Order family for the last 12 years. There is simply no other character on TV like Rollins. She’s grown and changed, and I have as well. I started on this show when I was in my late 20s and I’m grateful I got to spend so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life.”

“Rollins’ departure coincided with Giddish’s”
WHAT A COINCIDENCE!
Still miss Rollins and Kelli like crazy (Muncy is a very underwhelming replacement).
I’m really looking forward to her return. I don’t hate but also don’t care much about the multiple replacement detectives.
I like the new male detective but am not a fan of either of the new female detectives (can’t even remember their names) on the show. Although I wasn’t really a fan of Rollins and Carisi at first so I hope the current newbies grow on me.
I wasn’t a fan of Rollins & Carisi when they both joined, but they both grew on me over time.
I don’t have much of an opinion on any of the new(er) detectives b/c they aren’t on every week. The white female is on 2 episodes then disappears for 3. Same with the white male-he’s on for 1 & is off for the next 2. Hard to say if they are good or bad replacements yet.
Sorry, but I don’t find Rollins a professor realistic. Does Rollns even have a degree? I can imagine her teaching at the police academy, but a university professor? Perhaps Benson teaching, but Rollins with all of what, a decade of SVU experience, teaching university students?
Wildly unrealistic.
She does. That’s why the originally hired her. She has forensic degrees and many other criminal justice degrees and other certifications under her belt. I forget exactly what they’re called. But back in the first few episodes when she started at SVU in NY (she was already an SVU detective on atlanta) cragen explains her degrees and expertise.
.
So they write her out of the Franchise but don’t mind parading her around every once in a while when they need some Ratings boosting or to end Seasons on highs? And yet the one role they should’ve written out by now is sadly still there? I mean hell, even Jerry Orbach and Dennis Farina knew when to call it a day but Mariska and Ice-T are still there?!
Olivia Benson is too much of a Monolith of a Character at this point. It’s either the all-powerful Crusader of her sense of Justice or Momma Bear mode. She’s not even willing to acknowledge the true feelings between her and Stabler at this point!
And Fin? He’s just a one-note character nowadays and I honestly don’t see why he’s still there.
Mmmm Dr Amanda Rollins Carisi has a nice ring to it, Rollins has mature so much ever since and even before she had gotten together romantically with Carisi and really mature. And so has Elliot Stabler he’s not the hot head everyone keeps talking about anymore he’s seems more quieter and he truly loves Olivia Benson and it would be about time for those two to get together romantically after all these years of being friends and something more than friendship.
SUV will not be the same without Rollins and I will be watching it less.
It’s long past time for Amanda and her neverending pregnancies (all by different fathers) to exit. She’s teaching at a university with her shady/disturbing personal history?!? Thank the goddess for Olivia and Fin.
We love Rollins and hope she can continue with these shows somehow. She is part of the family and love these actors so much in the show.
