A visibly shaken James Corden directly addressed his Late Late Show audience on Monday in the wake of the suicide bombing in Manchester. The attack, which occurred outside an Ariana Grande concert, left 22 dead and dozens injured.
“While taping our show earlier tonight we heard the horrific news coming out of Manchester, in England, that there has been an incident at Ariana Grande’s concert,” the UK native said (watch video above). “Many of you won’t have ever been to Manchester. But you will have heard of it. It’s famous all over the world for so many wonderful things.
“When I think of Manchester, the place that I know, I think of the spirit of the people there,” he continued. “A more tight-knit people you will be hard pressed to find; strong proud, caring people with community at their core. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Manchester tonight.”
ISIS has claimed responsibility for Monday’s brutal attack.
I am Mancunian, please keep us all in your thoughts but our city will not be changed. We reacted with selfless love and compassion. Not fear.
Thoughts and prayers to all the families and victims in the senseless cowardly act.
James Corden is a national treasure, here and across the shore. Big heart. To our brothers and sisters, many our ancestral cousins–we stand united with you and won’t give in to the fear that terrorist cowards want to provoke.
Nice. So, what’s plan, then?
He is not in either country, speak for yourself. The fact that he has become the go to guy on tv for a reaction after every terrorist attack (or at least so it seems on TvLine) is very weird.
