The end is near for Gotham… or is it just the beginning? That’s the riddle Fox poses in this first promo for the show’s final episode, airing next Thursday (8/7c). And yes, it’s a trick question.
For while the series may be reaching the end of its five-season road, our young Bruce Wayne is also beginning his own journey, finally transforming into the literal Dark Knight that his city desperately needs.
Here’s a full breakdown of what you can expect from Gotham‘s final hour:
The series flash-forwards 10 years into the future, as Bruce is set to return to Gotham for the opening of the new Wayne Tower. A series of crimes leads Gordon to believe Penguin and The Riddler are up to their old tricks. However, when Bullock is framed for a murder, Gordon begins to piece together an even more sinister plot targeting the city, and a new figure emerges from the shadows to be the hero Gotham desperately needs in the all-new ‘The Beginning…’ series finale episode of Gotham.

Though we’ve already gotten a first look (of sorts) at Batman, this new promo allows us to spend some quality milliseconds with grown-up Bruce and his spooky new voice.

What was Jim looking at in this episode that just went off toward the end when he was walking with Lee? The music changed also
So how many seconds do we see Bats in this flash forward?..once the pointy ears are seen…the end.
We’re going to get more than that. They teased him and Jim talking in multiple scenes, Cameron Monaghan teased a Joker/Batman fight scene, and there supposed to be scenes of him with Catwoman, The Riddler, and The Penguin. This whole episode is supposed to be their version of a Batman film.
Not sure about the majority of the cast, but the actress portraying Selina has stated the episode that aired last night was her final episode of the show.
Lili Simmons is playing an older version of Selina in the final episode.
The preview for the finale episode looks good. So excited to see the episode next week! The new episode was so good.
Tonight’s episode was one of the best. Awesomeness overload.
They did this show right. It was something you’d think you’d only see in a comic book. Looking forward to the finale. I don’t understand why a different actress will play Catwoman. Surely the makeup artists could make Carmen look 10 years older, especially considering what they have done to Jerome.
Now, after next week’s finale, what will it take to get a Barbara Lee Gordon Batgirl followup?
Perhaps we’ll see her in the Batwoman show if it gets picked up for a season… they already cast Luke Fox, which means we might get a little Batwing action…
There were reports yesterday that batwoman is “ a lock” to get picked up.
I agree if we see any of these characters again it’ll be in the Batwoman show and maybe the other Arrowverse series now and crossovers. They’ll likely be other actors but would be nice if they were able to cast some of the same actors for the villains and just pretend it’s this other Earth’s version of their “Gotham” characters.
Gotham (the program) is Fox and the Arrowverse is CW. If they introduce any of these characters into the Arrowverse – via Batwoman or other – it’ll be independent. I didn’t do any digging to see if there’s a common production company or not – TV Line- do you know?
They both have DC/WB production companies involved along with another company. DC/WB has the final say in sure. Nothing is impossible.
I’d be more interested in actual primary characters vs these prequels.
Oh, I didn’t mean to suggest that they might pull Gotham characters into the Arrowverse- I just meant that we haven’t seen a live-action Batgirl in a long while, and if she’s going to turn up anywhere, it would likely be the Batwoman show.
Even though Gotham is ending I hope they start a Batman (new) series!
I am with you-this is one of a handful of shows that I will actually miss. Visually, it is perfect. Entertainment value is off the charts wonderful. I am really going to miss it. Maybe the actors don’t want to be type cast, but, frankly, they can all play these characters forever and I will be okay with it!
A Batman show would be cool and all the props are made already.
