Fox is opting to lay Ghosted to rest, cancelling the Adam Scott-Craig Robinson sitcom after one troubled season, TVLine has learned. What’s more, the series has been yanked from the network’s Sunday schedule, effective immediately.
Ghosted pulled in respectable numbers when it bowed last fall, but Fox — dissatisfied with the creative direction of the show — brought in Paul Lieberstein (The Office) to replace Kevin Etten as showrunner midway through Season 1. Lieberstein’s installments had been getting the summer burn-off treatment before Thursday’s cancellation announcement. A Fox rep tells TVLine that it’s “TBD” whether the final three unaired episodes will ever see the light of day.
The comedy starred Scott and Robinson as a former astrophysics professor and a mall cop, respectively, who partner up to investigate paranormal activity. The cast also included Ally Walker, Amber Stevens West — who has since moved on to the upcoming CBS comedy Happy Together — and Adeel Akhtar as members of the secret government agency The Bureau Underground.
Are you bummed about Ghosted‘s demise? Surprised it took this long for Fox to drop the ax? Drop a comment below.
“who partner up to investigate paranormal activity” which sadly has not been the premise of the show since it returned. These episodes have all been about someone bugging the office.
I couldn’t agree more. The plot had so much potential but they strayed so far off course. It became a wannabe “Office” ripoff. Hard to understand why they did that. It was an enjoyable and entertaining series for a while. I thought it would get better as the actors gelled and the writing progressed, but the writing was horrible and it was no longer as Brian says about investigating paranormal activity.
Fox is dessimating it’s line up. big mistake to have cancelled Lucifer👎
Think you mean decimating.
Try not to use words you don’t know….
Why would you waste your time trashing someone for a spelling error?
be knice
Laugh out loud! Knice, Marcus!
Fox cancelling Lucifer was probably the best thing that ever happened to it.
Probably the best thing that ever happened to it? Lucifer was the best show ON it. You really don’t deserve television.
Remember when this show was about going out and stopping supernatural threats? No? Neither do the writers.
Thank you!! It went from a fun, sci-fi, buddy copish show to a workplace “comedy” that’s dull and unfunny. What in the world were they thinking; why would they change the show so dramatically?? It really pisses me off, because I used to really love this show.
They really didn’t want this show to succeed…
Honestly I noticed a huge dip in quality when they came back with the new show runner. It had nothing to do with the supernatural. Instead in turned into an office style show with new characters i was supposed to all of a sudden care about. I liked the way it was originally. Classic fox.
Agreed. I loved the office, but it felt so forced and such a sharp turn for this series. Most of the time I like to check out unaired episodes even if the series is cancelled, but the last few episodes didn’t feel anything like the original premise so I don’t care if they never see the light of day.
Doesn’t surprise me. Never understood why they kept this on while they cancelled a couple of my shows.
That’s too bad. I thought it was funny. The didn’t do much to promote it and when they decided to air the remaining episodes in the summer again not much was done to promote it. The cast was great and the premise had serious potential.
The original episodes were so funny and such a good satire of SciFi, but the new ones were just dumb. Too bad, but I would expect no less from Fox.

This show deserved better. Not at all shocked by this news, but hoping they’ll air the last three episodes sometime.
this was actually a fun show to watch but when it came back it was completely different and not fun or good
Original premise was clever and the leads were fun. Then the “suits” come in and mess it up. Happens a lot with shows more and more. Another missed opportunity at FOX.
I liked it better when it was more Sci-Fi and less Office comedy. After the long break, it never really had a chance. I am down to 1 show on Fox and that is not must-see for me.
First 9 episodes were great though it felt out of order, the last 3 not so much, so many threads left off. Like what happened to Jennifer’s wife, the missing agent, and why couldn’t they do the snatcher episode in a different location?
Fox did its frequent trick of running episodes in random order, although for once I’m not sure if the episodes were filmed in order of continuity either. One of the missing episodes has already aired overseas. It was the original episode 10 and it was filmed before the changes happened. So it would make no sense at all to air it now anyway.
This was still on? It was terrible from the beginning.
I’m very sad to see it go!
I’m not surprised at the cancellation, but I was vaguely enjoying the soft reboot version and thought that it would play out the rest of the season.
lol What took them so long? I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did. Great premise, but horrible and unfunny writing.
I liked the show in the beginning. The last few episodes since it returned didn’t seem like the same show to me at all. Can’t say I’m surprised it is not going to survive. Shame though. It started out okay. But then somehow the original concept has gotten completely lost. I did like the combination of Adam Scott and Craig Robinson though. This one didn’t break my heart like some of the other cancellations did. Still heartbroken over ABC’s Kevin (Probably) Saves The World. That is the show I wish some network would save. This one, I’ll survive.
I said the same thing, I loved Kevin (probably) Saved the World probably my saddest cancellation since Forever
Not shocked. I enjoyed it, and hoped it would find its footing
How come all the shows with somewhat supernatural themes keep getting canceled…!?!
The Lieberstein shows have sucked, badly. If that’s Fox’ doing, they have no one to blame but themselves. If I was on the cast or crew of the show, I’d be mighty upset with Fox right now.
Two great comedic leads wasted.
This is why I rarely watch anything on Fox. They can’t leave anything good alone long enough to give it a chance.
