Rebecca Bunch just got a bunch of episodes added to her swan song.
The CW is expanding Crazy Ex-Girlfriend‘s upcoming fourth and final season to a total of 18 episodes, TVLine has confirmed. That makes Season 4 the show’s biggest since its freshman season, which also had 18 episodes. (Seasons 2 and 3 were 13 episodes each.) The network announced back in May that Season 4 would be the last for Rachel Bloom’s musical rom-com. (SpoilerTV first broke the news of the expanded episode order.)
In case you forgot where we left off: Season 3 of Crazy Ex ended with Rebecca facing a lengthy prison sentence after pleading guilty to the attempted murder of her own unstable ex Trent. That decision has “unintended consequences for her West Covina friends,” per The CW’s official Season 4 description. “Nathaniel feels betrayed by her, Josh is taken aback by her, and Darryl is parenting her baby. Paula, Heather and Valencia remain staunchly by Rebecca’s side but they are busy finding their own identities (as a law student, regional manager and kickass party planner, respectively.)”
Crazy Ex‘s expanded Season 4 kicks off Friday, Oct. 12 at 9/8c. Got predictions for the final season? Drop ’em in a comment below.
Hope they do that for IZombie.
Agreed. It’d be nice if Jane the Virgin got 17, so they could get to 100 episodes
Agreed! Then maybe we can see a K Bell cameo!
Sweet!! Gonna take all the CEG/CXG they can give us. Such a talented team :)
Great news! The more CEG, the better!
Will Jane reach the 100th episode?
I’m really happy about this, but it will mean that Jane will be pushed back even further:(
Fantastic news….one of the best shows on television. Highly underrated.
I hope they can convince Santino Fontana to return for a guest arc or just an appearance. I need to see Greg one last time and hear his beautiful voice.
Last sighting of Fontana he was getting thrown off a roof by Ray Liotta in an NBC cop show.
Gees. Well then he should be available.
Well that’s probably not gonna happen. Greg is coming back last season but they’ve recasted someone else to play him. They’re making sure to acknowledge that it’s a totally different person however.
According to Wikipedia, they’re bringing Greg back, but he’s being played by a new actor. It’s to symbolize the way people might perceive somebody one way, go through a whole lot of life, and see them as a completely different person when you they into him again. Kind of like if you ever ran into an ex- years later, only to wonder what the heck you saw in him in the first place.
This doesn’t surprise surprise me as CW shows they get past the initial season usually get over 60 episode, typically 70 or so. I was kinda shocked Crazy was ending with less than 60.
I guess it is because it was always supposed to be a four seasons story and wasn’t really cancelled
Props to the person who picked out that header photo for this article.
And potentially great news – more Crazy and songs is always a good thing, but I TRULY hope they tell more than one story per character this season.
And I second whoever mentioned Jane – I REALLY hope CW lets that show end at 100 episodes!
What does this mean for Jane? As in when will it actually premiere now? CxG won’t end in February now. Dynasty has 22 episodes and Crazy Ex now has 18 episodes. Both has to take breaks like every other Fall show which pushes Jane back.
Has Cdub filled all their Sunday programming yet?
Yes, and Jane will on its regular Friday night not Sunday night.
Rebecca had a baby?
No, she donated her egg and Heather was a surrogate for Darrel to have a baby. I feel like that part was misleading. Also, Paula wasn’t exactly on Rebecca’s side by the end point of season 3, she was actually done with her. But she did show up to the trial and looked proud when Rebecca pleaded responsible/guilty.
I am hoping that Rebecca will get involved in musical theatre again, since THAT is the great love of her life, as her therapist tried to get her to see in the fantastic episode with the “Dream Ghost” song. There is even a fellow enthusiast in the law office who could be a co-director of a West Covina Theatre Co. The only concern I have is that when Rebecca sings in “real life” — as she did in the prison drama class — the results are not up to imaginary song standards. Oy vey! Maybe that was just a stress induced aberration? And I want to see more of her talented half-brother. Wow!
And if, by any miracle, Santiago can put in an appearance, as an alter ego or something…. please….
