Chicago Fire Offers Update on Severide’s Whereabouts — and He’s Not Where Stella Thinks He Is!
An arson investigation training program can only last so long.
Wednesday’s Chicago Fire gave viewers an unexpected update on what Severide is doing during his portrayer Taylor Kinney’s leave of absence.
As reported in January, the longtime series regular is taking a break from the NBC drama to deal with a personal matter. The unplanned turn of events resulted in script rewrites to account for why Severide was suddenly missing in action. The actor last appeared in the Feb. 22 installment, and his character’s absence was explained in the March 1 episode, when it was revealed that Severide had gone to Alabama for an arson investigation training program.
But in this week’s installment, Cruz discovered at the Academy that the firefighter’s no longer in Alabama. His superiors were so impressed with him that he’s now helping out with a big ATF investigation — a fact he hasn’t mentioned to his wife!
Not knowing that Severide hadn’t looped in Stella on his current whereabouts, Cruz accidentally let the news slip at Molly’s, surprising Stella… and hinting at trouble for the couple?
Kinney will not appear in next Wednesday’s Season 11 finale — but Jesse Spencer will reprise his role as Casey, and the captain will certainly have much to discuss with his ex Sylvie Brett. As TVLine predicted, the paramedic this week declared her desire to adopt the abandoned baby, but she’ll need the birth mother’s help to make it happen.

So the writers are just giving up writing for Brett and are just recycling old Gabby storylines for her?
Sure seems like it. They clearly don’t know what to do with the Brett character. Huge eye roll when Brett said she wanted to adopt the baby. This is the third adoption story (Dawson, Cruz and now Brett).
Yeah, they seemed to have placed all their eggs in the CaseyBrett relationship and then Jesse Spencer up and left the show. She’s been flailing ever since. At least Violet had something going on to distract us, but they killed that too.
I don’t know how to tell you this but it is possible for more than one woman to be interested in adopting a child. Isn’t the same thing happening on PD? Hasnt it happened on dramas time and time again? Judging by the promo it’s even possible she might leave Chicago and go and be with Matt anyway
I don’t know how to tell you but …. It’s incredibly lazy writing when they are in the same job, dated the same guy, have unfinished business with that same said guy, spent time in a long term relationship with that same guy, and are following the same story arc ….. Your comment is absurd.

No this doesn’t spells doom for Stellaride they been thought a lot of Stuff and there could be a reason why Severide didn’t tell his wife about the people in Alabama being so in impressed with his work they wanted him involved with this investigation that might be dangerous.
I wonder how they will leave things between them in the season finale. Or will Stella get to talk to her husband and find out what is really going on. I wonder if this was the plan the higher ups told Taylor to stay out for the rest of the season

Well, they have the ex wife and the lawyer Renee but Stella goshted him for months last season so there’s hope.

Always figured he’d get revenge for Stella doing the same thing to him last season.
Good god get over the revenge thing. When Stella did that to him, she had a valid reason for doing it. She felt overwhelmed in the decision to become Lt. On 81 and her fear of being unable to continue with her a girls on Fire program and needed time to figure it out without Severide’s and Boden’s pressure. She apologised and Severide accepted it. It’s time for people to move on. Severide was upset at the time not so much about being ghosted as he was fearing that she had changed her mind about marrying him. As soon as she told him she still loved him and wanted to marrying 1000%, he told her they were good. No revenge necessary, she knew she didn’t handle it well and apologised so it’s time for everyone to let it go.
At least she went to see him. If he was that worried about her “were you ok. We’re you with someone else “ he said. If he really loved her he would have gone to make sure, she could have been dead for all he knew !!!

This serie is getting so ridiculous and boring. Shame they didnt cancel it. Next season needs new fresh writers and ideas or i`m out as i think others will too.
I don’t understand this thinking. Why must it be canceled, rather than you not watching it? Many still enjoy it, but I guess since Sadie is bored, it has to go, only she matters.
I hope the actor comes back. Hopefully when they begin shooting for the new season he will be back..

So he is doing the same as Stella and she can’t blame him. She left for months without contact for her career and now it’s his turn. No need for unnecessary drama. Keep that until the actor come back or if he’s leaving for good, make the divorce a mutual decision and don’t turn Stella to a victim like Upton cpd.
If he’s not coming back kill him off. Don’t make him a liar and a hypocrite as he beat his father up for doing the same thing
The writing has been on the wall for seasons especially for some characters brett/casey/kidd/severideand the recycling stories for the same characters. Stella and severide goshting each other and adopting Casey/gabby/brett. Seriously this show needs a new characters and a big shake up to most of the old cast no offence but it can survive characters leaving.
if Chicago fire separates Kelly severide and Stella marriage I will not not watch it anymore just doesn’t seem like any relationship is worth saving these days we’ve all rooted for them to get together just for once it’d be nice to actually see a couple survive and grow together and grow together it would to see them having a baby rather than splitting up what do we expect

The latest update does not spell doom for Stellaride. It is obvious that Kelly’s arson skills translate to ATF and also his skills helping Pryma with the Martucci investigation. He probably did not have time or was told not to tell anyone what was going on for safety’s sake. Yes, Stella will be concerned but 51 will have her back…..
Without Severide I’m done. Can we just have a couple on tv that goes good.? I certainly understand that the actors have personal lives and off screen events can be effect the work. But I’m praying that he’ll be able to heal and return back to the show, when he’s ready.
Stella might be upset initially because she heard it from Cruz, but I think she’ll understand after Girls on Fire absence. The difference is I think Kelly was in touch with Stella, but she just didn’t say when she would be back. It wouldn’t be out of the ordinary for the feds to scoop him up and say it was for national security reasons. Hopefully, with the WGA strike delaying the start of the season, Taylor Kinney will be able/willing to return and they can resolve this with him already back in Chicago or returning soon. As long as they don’t write in a cliffhanger in next week’s finale that needs to be immediately resolved episode 1 next season, I think it’ll be fine. I do not want there to be a Stella/Carver/Severide issue next season! I like Carver and I hope he stays with the arson chick.
I’m fine with Brett’s storyline. I don’t think it’s necessarily a rehash of Gabby’s adoption story. She’s choosing to do this on her own and Casey coming back is not permanent, so it’s not like he’s going to get involved with her/them. She really will be a single mom and trying to figure it out on her own, since Dylan is obviously going to dip.
But will TK return as Lt. Kelly Severide?🥺
Writers/show runners better get something figured out pretty quick. Fire is turning into the Stella Kidd show with a big helping of Brett’s latest emotional crisis.
If the trend continues I’ll stop watching. I’ve already removed PD from my Wed. Night viewing.
What I am wondering is what will happen with Brett and her latest squeeze. He was really knocking down the booze during their dinner together and did not look too pleased. You read it here first :)

Getting tired of watching Stella get all the lead rolls! She is really guilty of serious safety flaws in the show and as a former fire fighter I would have her grounded. And I believe Mouch ? should have a helmet that fits.
It is a TV show about firefighters and how they fight fires, do rescues and save people. The actors do the best they can to be as realistic as possible and have real firefighters to help them. If you think they are doing things so wrong then why don’t you go to the show runners and tell them….
How hard is it to imagine that Severide is being pulled into the same terror investigation as Stella and Casey, but from another angle.
Usually Homeland Security and ATF don’t work the same type of crimes. ATF is usually going after weapons, especially criminals with military weapons. Homeland deals with domestic and foreign terrorism. Kelly has investigative expertise and experience with military weapons thanks to working with Pryma.
Actually I understand why he didn’t go see her. That question that he posed were you with someone else, was very telling of his fear that she was cheating on him. Because his fiancée Rene had cheated on him two days before their wedding. I know I wouldn’t want to chase down my significant other only to catch them in the act of cheating. Fear is a powerful motivator not to face what may be happening plus he grew up with parents who literally abandoned him when his father cheated on his mother. So as much as he loved her history told him maybe he wasn’t worth loving. I know he told her that he wondered if she was all right but I assume he believed as you asked that if she were dead the CFD would know about it since Girls on Fire was a sanctioned program. So not tracking her down makes perfect sense to me.
