Those savory Reagan family dinners will continue to be served, now that Blue Bloods has been officially renewed for Season 14.
The news comes five weeks after CBS renewed in one fell swoop another nine of its programs for the 2023-24 TV season — but not Blue Bloods, nor S.W.A.T. or East New York.
Thus far this season, Blue Bloods is averaging 9.5 million total viewers and a 0.7 demo rating (with Live+7 playback), down just a tick from last season’s averages (9.8 mil/0.8). Out of the 13 dramas CBS has aired this TV season, it ranks No. 3 in audience (behind only NCIS and FBI) and ties for third in the demo.
“Blue Bloods has dominated Friday nights since its premiere and remained an important anchor for CBS’ winning lineup,” CBS Entertainment chief Amy Reisenbach said in a statement. “Led by the outstanding Tom Selleck, and an incredible cast and creative team, viewers continue to embrace the Reagans, their law enforcement family, and the series’ dramatic storytelling.”
Our sister site Deadline reported back on Feb. 21 that “after weeks of impasse,” talks to bring Blue Bloods back for Season 14 were “trending in the right direction” — though the trade also referenced “rumblings” that CBS was pushing for “pretty deep” cuts on the aging series, in exchange for a renewal. (Blue Bloods boasts seven full-time series regulars, plus five heavily recurring players who appear in every episode.)
But, Deadline more recently reported, both cast and producers agreed to salary cuts in order to keep the show going.

Wahoo!!
This is so wonderful! We need some good news this week. Now if I could only press my luck and read that The Resident will be coming back.
I wasn’t to worried but it’s still nice to see.
I am super psyched about this! It is reliably great entertainment with elements that can appeal to all walks of life. I am a bit concerned, however, about what concessions had to be made to secure this renewal. I would hate to see it significantly modified.
Great news! Now East New York please!!
Wonder who/what we will see in Season 14 with these reported budget cuts. Happy a good deserving series continues. East New York is similarly worthy. Come on, CBS. Take the high road here. We don’t want more Real Love Boats and Love Islands.
The article says that cast & producers took pay cuts, so I doubt there will be any major changes.
Exactly as that’s why it hadn’t been announced yet as they had to work on paycuts
Now, CBS needs to do the same for SWAT !! #7 is wanted !!
Whohoo!!!! So glad I love this show and am so glad we’ll be seeing the Reagans next season. Thank you team!!!
Supposedly no concessions or big budget cuts, other than the leads agreeing to lower salaries. 💕
Lower salaries makes for a lower budget.
Lower salaries typically leads to less work days, I would expect seeing less of your favorites together throughout episode, and a episode or 2 one of the major characters are out of town or just not seen
GREAT NEWS!!! It would have been nice to report how this came about! CBS was saying pretty deep cuts were needed. If this is the case, what will we be looking at for season 14? Will we be losing anyone or what changes are we expecting?
I hope CBS realizes the gem they have with Blue Bloods and not mess with it to much. I am sure we will be getting some news on the cuts soon!
Looking forward to another year of family dinners.
Big pot of beans and rice for Sunday dinner.
Lol. Love it!!!
There you go, cut down on those nice dinners! Funny!
It’s hot dogs and potato chips for every Sunday dinner from now on!
No cast and crew took pay cuts
CBS has other things they can cut besides this cast and show. It’s a solid producer. As long as Tom Selleck wants to work, it should continue.
Definitely need to renew SWAT!
About time. Best show on TV!!!
Wonderful news. But, who are the seven regulars? Frank, Danny, Jamie, Pops, Erin are in the family. Do Edie and Sean count as full-time regulars? The recurring (I think) are Baez, Anthony, Abigail, Sid & Garrett. I’d add Joe, but his recurrences are infrequent.
Now, just renew S.W.A.T. and East New York and I’ll be a happy camper!
From reading the press release from CBS I believe Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Marisa Ramirez and Vanessa Ray are the regulars. I think the actors that play Sean, Abigail, Sid, Garrett and Anthony would be the recurring five.
+100 TVLine Power User points (no cash value)
I think the numbers are backwards, 5 regulars and 7 recurring regulars. I’m pretty sure that Marisa and Vanessa are not listed in the first group with the family. Haven’t checked lately, but I think that’s the way it was in the past.
It’s right in the credits of every episode. The actors that play the five main Reagan family members are listed during the theme song, and then the first credit listed after that is ‘also starring’ Vanessa Ray and Marisa Ramirez. Everyone after that is listed as a guest star, even the ones who appear in every episode.
I think that sounds right
I love Marisa Ramirez and I wish she and Donnie would get Married on the show and have them show their home life. She is beautiful and they make a great couple. What happened to Jamie and his wife, they are rarely in it these days.
This a GREAT news – I love this show and I’m so happy it was renewed!! Yay!
I am very happy about the renewal of Blue Bloods.
SWAT & East New York PLEASE!
So happy to hear this news! We need Blue Bloods! Such a great family show with real values. And very generous of them to take pay cuts to keep the cast together.
Curious if they asked any of the NCIS or FBI shows to take pay cuts.
The FBI shows aren’t as old as Blue Bloods and they usually lock actors in for 7 years initially. And for NCIS, the only original cast member left is part time, and the producers have killed two franchises (NO and LA) to keep the mothership running.
Super happy Blue Bloods was renewed.
Happy to hear about Blue Bloods getting renewed. Let’s hope S.W.A.T. is renewed by CBS as well. As for other shows, hopefully The Company You Keep gets renewed by ABC. Underrated show with lots of plot twist and comedy. Not sure what’s happening over at the CW, but a renewal for both Walker and Walker Independence would make my day.
Phew! This makes me happy, such great news.
Hey @Fox please make me even happier and #RenewTheResident
Now we wait for SWAT
Blue Bloods didn’t start off on Frifay nights….
It did. Other than a 4 episode trial on Wednesdays back in season 1 Blue Bloods has always aired on Fridays.
Yes I like. The article said it premiered Friday nights…..
Now if only CBS will renew Swat and East New York I’ll be happy. They are both great exciting and interesting shows with good casts so let’s go CBS.
Yea! Blue Bloods is the best show on TV.
Yes, it is!
Hallelujah! So happy to hear Blue Bloods was not canceled!
