A freshly Lysol’d Big Brother house will open its doors to past winners, fan-favorites and “some of the best to never win the game” this August.
The long-running summertime hit will kick off its second all-stars edition with the first-ever live move-in event on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 9/8c. Following the premiere, episodes will air thrice weekly, on Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays (at 8 pm).
Houseguests will be revealed at a later date.
For Season 22, CBS has put in place a COVID-19 compliance officer to protect the “welfare of everyone involved” and make sure that the cast and crew adhere to specific health and safety protocols. On screen, the biggest notable difference will be Thursday’s live show, which will forgo a studio audience. [pmc_inline_gallery]
Ahead of the premiere, BB22 houseguests will be placed in quarantine and tested several times prior to entering the house. Once inside, they will be tested on a weekly basis and have no contact with any crew members.
Staff and crew members will also be tested on a regular basis. Personal protective equipment (i.e. masks) will be required, and the crew will work in pods to ensure social distancing.
Big Brother isn’t the only CBS reality show moving full-speed ahead despite the pandemic. Season 2 of Love Island, which will take place at a Las Vegas hotel rather than the usual tropical island setting, has reportedly begun preproduction and is slated to start airing by the end of the summer. (Conversely, Survivor has been removed from the network’s fall line-up and is not expected back before 2021.)
Are you looking forward to Big Brother‘s second all-stars cycle?
Will testing also be aired live?
I doubt it. Do you really want to see people get enormous q-tips stuck up their nose on a weekly basis? That may also be breaking HIPPA laws.
I hate this show. Watched a couple episodes of the first season, that was enough. That being said, I’d gladly tune in to watch these idiots get the full swab treatment…
The format of the first season is completely different from the rest. It’s not even the same game.
I don’t think so …
It wouldn’t be summer without BIG BROTHER. They should bring back only people who came in second or who were voted fan favorites at the end of the game. Either way would ensure an attentive audience.
The worst kept secret has just been confirmed!!! But excited none the less!!!! Can’t wait!!!!
Did I miss the cast announcement??
No but TMZ has a report yesterday with some names of people supposedly in quarantine. They are awaiting negative Covid tests.
Here are the peeps listed so far per TMZ.
Paulie Calafiore S18
Josh Martinez winner S19 Ugh! He annoys me.
Daniele Donata S8
Nicole Fanzel S18 winner
Tyer Crispen S20 Not a fan lol
Janelle Pierzina Love her.
Ian Terry S14 winner
Hayden Moss S12 winner
Bayleigh Dayton S20
Hate both Paulie and Josh. For radically different reasons but don’t want either back. Although maybe Josh has matured some since his season. Paulie’s ego is beyond redemption
After watching him on MTV’s Challenge this season…he hasn’t
Hmmm. The Article states favorites that have not won before. If that is true some of these on this list wouldn’t qualify.
Janelle is in Greece with Britney Haynes, per Brit’s IG.
Where did you see that on her IG? It’s highly unlikely that they would be in Greece due to the travel bans from US. Maybe it was an old post from when they did Amazing Race together a couple of years ago.
So will there be any showmances?
I liked Tyler and Nicole.
Hayden is ok
I’m not familiar with the rest
I might be wrong but I think the very first season had a live move-in show, but things were very different that season and it’s been 20 years so……
3 words, “ giant hamster balls”
I’m just happy we’re getting a show this season!
Excited for BB22 my summer pleasure along with so you think you can dance. the latter has been postponed til 2021 so I am very excited for BB. Will it be on overnight at POP also? Stay safe and thank you..
Hope the live feeds start right after the premiere.. the best part of BBOTT was getting to see them move in and that first week of them in the house that we normally dont get
The eviction episodes/live shows did not have a studio audience for many seasons. This won’t be the first without one.
YES! I’m so excited.
This is NOT the first time BB has not had a studio audience. There was a stretch of seasons without one early on.
Thats not true.. the US version of BB has always had a live audience for eviction shows.
Nope. S1 had a live audience, but starting S2 they did away with the audience. From Season 5 onwards, they had a live audience for the finale only. In S10(I think), they brought the live audience back for all eviction episodes
It is true. I don’t post lies.
They definitely didn’t have audiences there for a little bit except finale. Remember they also used to have family members there to greet the evicted houseguests on camera when they weren’t sequestered. Several years ago they changed the format of the live shows completely.
Yes!
YES!!!
10,000 times YES!
TV’S BEST REALITY SHOW EVER RETURNS!
It seems so counterintuitive to cancel Survivor for COVID-19 and keep this. Isn’t Survivor the ultimate quarantine? Is the issue transportation?
Travel is most likely a huge consideration. They probably could have figured out a way to do it here in the states and I would assume they will consider that if the virus delays it into next year. They can certainly isolate cast and crew similar to with BB with little issues. However, BB is the ultimate quarantine. The houseguests live like we all have been for the past four months. A lot more elements go into a season of Survivor.
