The cast and creator of Disney+’s Andor kicked off this year’s Star Wars Celebration on Friday morning in London, where a timetable was revealed for Season 2.
Tony Gilroy — the showrunner for Andor who previously penned the screenplay for its “sequel,” Rogue One: A Star Wars Story — shared at Star Wars Celebration that Season 2, which started rolling the cameras last November, is now halfway done with filming.
Filming is expected to wrap this August and, following a year of post-production, is on track for a hoped-for August 2024 release date. (Season 1 streamed on Disney+ from Sept. 21 through Nov. 3, 2022.)
A prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Andor in its first season followed the titular Cassian (again played by Rogue One‘s Diego Luna) as his murder of two “corpo” guards led him on a path to meet Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgård), a key member in the budding Resistance movement.
Cassian helped out with the major heist of an Imperial payroll, but even after escaping, he wound up imprisoned. Following a jailbreak, Cass made his way home to Ferrix, in time for his mother’s funeral, and managed to elude capture by the many factions hunting him. As the season then came to a close, he joined Luthen aboard his Fondor craft, ready to assist the Resistance further.
Season 1 was set five years prior to the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and spanned one year. Season 2 will be another 12 episodes and span the remaining four years leading up to Rogue One.
The confirmed (or at least assumed) Season 2 cast includes Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Genevieve O’Reilly (as Mon Mothma), Denise Gough (Dedra) and Kyle Soller (Syril), and possibly Forest Whitaker (Saw Gerrera) and Adria Arjona (Bix).

I was disappointed in Andor. I thought it was boring. I have liked the other Disney+ SW related series, but not this one.
This was one of the best shows of 2022, and THE best live action Star Wars since Rogue One
“A year for post production work “. Give me a break. So 2 years between shows. Streaming providers don’t give a crap about their customers. 6 to 12 episodes and 2 years between seasons is bs. Network tv used to pump out 23 episodes per seasons. I will just cancel my subscription till the new season starts.
Considering the criticism over quality and backlash Disney received from the work conditions related to their heavy post production CGI needs, this does not surprise me. Give the employees some much needed breathing space and obtainable deadlines to get the job done right.
Do you really think HBO (House of The Dragon) and Disney (Andor) actually want those shows to have a two year or more gap between seasons? They are not exactly making a CBS procedural on these type of shows.
It took me a while to warm up to Andor but I am glad I stuck with it. The last four episodes were my favorites. I can’t wait for Season 2.
I di agree the last few episodes were superior to the rest of the show. But, it still is my least favorite Disney+ SW adjacent series and I really like the Rogue One movie. I thought it was the best of the movies that followed the OG trilogy.

Danger will Robinson… I think that tells me everything rushed cheaper 2nd season. Disney gone nuts they just pushing messages again down everyone’s throats. They really need to just get shot of Kathleen Kennedy she’s totally gone off track and heading towards a cliff edge.
Mandalorian was really good then you can tell it was interfered with. Crazy to think George Lucas spent decades creating each part of the story and they are letting anyone fill the gaps with anything they feel like. They went cheap with Obi wan basically trashed their crown jewels.
Disney are becoming Electronic Arts of the movie world buy stuff and ruin it. Totally bonkers can’t make it up.
