Super Bowl: Best & Worst Commercials

One needn’t know the difference between a touchdown and a turnover to find enjoyment in the Super Bowl. For many viewers (and we suspect many a TVLine reader), it’s all about the ads.

Each year, advertisers pony up big bucks to wave their wares in front of upwards of 100 million lookie-loos… even though most commercials are released online, ahead of the Big Game. So, who drafted famous faces to shill? Who played it for laughs? And who went for waterworks?

Below, you’ll find the stars of Community (Joel McHale and Ken Jeong), Curb Your Enthusiasm (Larry David), Euphoria (Zendaya), the upcoming Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor), Pam & Tommy (Seth Rogen), Saturday Night Live (Pete Davidson and Colin Jost), Schitt’s Creek (Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara), Scrubs (Zach Braff and Donald Faison), The Sopranos (Jamie-Lynn Sigler and Robert Iler), Succession (Nicholas Braun), Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis and Hannah Waddingham) and The White Lotus (Jennifer Coolidge).

Among film folk, you have Jim Carrey reviving The Cable Guy, and Mike Myers and Rob Lowe reprising their sinister Austin Powers personas. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is also well represented, with more than a half-dozen stars — including Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy), Idris Elba (Thor), Danai Gurira (Black Panther), Salma Hayek (Eternals), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel) and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) — enlisted as pitchmen.

Also on hand are Grammy winners André “3000” Benjamin, Kenny G, Lizzo and Dolly Parton — the latter of whom teams with goddaughter Miley Cyrus.

(TVLine is also rounding up all the big movie trailers during the Big Game — including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Jurassic World: Dominion — which you can view here.)

Keep scrolling for our take on 30 of the best and worst Game Day ads — which we’ve playfully categorized as Touchdowns and Fumbles — then hit the comments and share your own reviews.
