It’s been 16 long months since the last episode of American Horror Story aired, and FX is making up for lost time by giving us a two-for-one in Season 10.
After dropping hints on social media for a full year, series creator Ryan Murphy has finally confirmed that the show’s tenth installment will be Double Feature, a pair of mini seasons airing back to back.
“It means two seasons for the fans airing in one calendar year,” Murphy says. “So double the viewing pleasure. One set by the sea (this cast has already been announced). A second by the sand (that cast announcement coming).”
Double Feature premieres Wednesday, Aug. 25 at 10/9c on FX. It will be available to stream the next day via FX on Hulu.

WHAT DOES THE TITLE MEAN?
Image Credit: Ryan Murphy/Instagram Double Feature, as explained in Murphy’s announcement on March 19, means just that. The season will give us “two horrifying stories … one by the sea [and] one by the sand.”

WHERE IS IT SET?
Image Credit: Ryan Murphy/Instagram The aforementioned sea and sand converge in Provincetown, Mass., where key scenes for the season were filmed. We know that will be the setting for at least one of the two stories in Double Feature.
It’s not yet known when exactly either story is set.

WHO'S NEW?
Image Credit: Ryan Murphy/Instagram Double Feature welcomes Macaulay Culkin into the Horror Story fold, photographed here with AHS favorite Leslie Grossman in Provincetown.
Here was Murphy’s pitch to Culkin, via E! News: “I said, ‘OK, here’s the pitch.’ And I told them the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, ‘This sounds like the role I was born to play.’ So, he signed up right then and there.”

WHO IS SARAH PAULSON PLAYING?
Image Credit: Courtesy of FX “It’s a slightly different story this time around,” Paulson told EW in February. “The character I’m playing this year on Horror Story has some issues, let’s just put it that way. I have a hair color I’ve never had in life nor in the show. That’s what I can tell you. And I have a great name. I have a great name, which I can’t tell you.”

WHO IS LILY RABE PLAYING?
Image Credit: Courtesy of FX “The person I’m playing on this season is nothing like anyone I’ve played on the show before, and I am having such a wonderful time with her and with my fellow actors,” Rabe told Collider in February. “I love this season. I love this season. I think new fans of the show will love this season, but the longtime fans of the show, I just can’t wait to share this season with them. There’s something about it – I wish I could say more.”

WHAT ARE THE CREATURES?
