For Margaret Cho, getting to hang out with a bunch of drag queens in Aspen, Colo., during Gay Ski Week is really just another day at the office.
The former Drop Dead Diva star is hosting Logo TV’s New Now Next Honors on Monday (10/9c), where she and a panel of other celebrities will showcase the TV shows, movies and music acts to keep an eye on in the coming year.
And here’s the not-so-secret secret to Cho’s hosting success: Just. Have. Fun.
“Everybody on there is my friend,” she says, adding that she was able to film sketches with RuPal’s Drag Race winner Bianca del Rio, plus more of her favorite queens. “It’s just a party and we had a blast. I always have a good time with that crew.”
Up next for Cho is her pot-themed Amazon comedy pilot Highland, now in development.
“It’s early yet — we’re still writing and putting it together — but I’m thrilled about it,” she says. “I know a lot about the marijuana world, and I’m really excited to get back to series television. I think people are really going to love it.”
And while you wait for Highland, you can catch Cho as a regular panelist on E!’s Fashion Police, where she says she does her best to honor Joan Rivers’ original vision.
“For me, it’s a great tribute to my mentor Joan,” she says. “There’s no way to replace her, but what we can do is try to imagine what would make her laugh. That’s how I approach it.”
