Supergirl Lands Merlin‘s Katie McGrath as Lex’s Sister Lena Luthor
Unlikely BFF alert: Kara Zor-El and… Lex Luthor’s kid sis?!
Katie McGrath (Merlin, Dracula) has landed the coveted recurring role of Lena Luthor on Supergirl, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Beautiful, powerful, and enigmatic, Lena arrives in National City on the heels of brother Lex’s incarceration hoping for a fresh start. Lena has taken over as 
CEO of her family’s billion-dollar-tech company, Luthor Corp, which has been tarnished by Lex’s evil infamy. Her goal? To re-brand the empire as a force for good. Lena wants to be seen as her own person, separate from her brother. Kara is drawn into Lena’s sphere and must determine if she is friend or foe.
Supergirl has made a number of significant casting moves as it transitions from CBS to The CW, most notably tapping Teen Wolf‘s Tyler Hoechlin to guest-star as Superman. Other key hires include erstwhile Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, as president of Supergirl‘s United States, Cougar Town alum Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, a veteran journalist hired by Cat (Calista Flockhart, now a recurring guest star), Floriana Lima (The Family) as gay Metropolis Special Crimes Unit captain Maggie Sawyer, and Containment‘s Chris Wood as a mysterious DC character.
McGrath’s more recent credits include Jurassic World and the Chiller series Slasher.
Supergirl Season 2 premieres Monday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
Glad they found the actress to Luna Luthor. Looking forward to see her in new season of the show.
Oh god, good luck. Slasher, apart from being a thoroughly mediocre (though somewhat-watchable), also featured her complete inability to do a North American accent. Hopefully they get her a better dialect coach.

Being an “amazing actress” doesn’t change the fact that she doesn’t do a very good American accent. Not everyone can pull it off.
I’m hoping they let her keep her natural accent. Explain it with boarding school.
That’s so funny the entire time I watched Slasher I just kept saying “then just make her character Scottish” ugh terrible

Oh no. :( I loved her as Morgana on Merlin, but a terrible accent will ruin a character for me, even if I’ve enjoyed the actor/actress in other things (case in point: Claire Forlani). Maybe they’ll let her use her own accent? *faint hope*

How in earth can the show introduce 5 new characters in the season premiere. Superman, Chris Woods character, Maggie, Snapper and Lena.
I am certain not all of them appear in episode 1. Some might debut in 2 or 3. I have little faith they can truly give everyone decent screentime. Somebody will get shafted in screentime.
