Well, that was fast. Less than 24 hours after Netflix officially renewed Stranger Things for Season 2, casting is already underway on the 9-episode sequel. And it would seem Mike, Dustin, Lucas and Will are about to make a new girl friend.
According to casting intel obtained by TVLine, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer are introducing three major new characters, one of whom, “Max,” is a “tough and confident” 12-14 year-old female whose “appearance, behavior and pursuits seem more typical of boys than of girls in this era.” Max eschews Hawkins’ primary mode of transportation — the bicycle — for a skateboard, which she uses to get around everywhere. Interestingly, the Season 2 premiere title, as teased in the renewal news video, appears to be “MadMax.”
The role is likely to raise eyebrows in light of the Duffer Brothers’ telling EW.com that while most Season 1 characters are poised to return in Season 2, Eleven’s involvement remains “up in the air.”
The other two new regulars include Max’s “very muscular and hyper-confident” Camaro-driving older brother Billy, and the thirtysomething gender-neutral role of “Roman.” The latter character suffered a great loss at an early age and has been seeking revenge ever since. (Hmm… )
As we reported Wednesday, Season 2 — which arrives in 2017 — will pick up about a year later, in the fall of 1984.

Eleven has to be back in some way, even if she just appears in Upside-down world or in dreams (nightmares? hallucinations?). Love this show!
I don’t want her back in some f@$ng form I want her in the Flesh. If they Don’t bring her back as a regular than so long Stranger Things.
“up in the air” … just have to figure that out and will know how she fits in…
Ok, that all sounds like garbage. Literally, like someone just started rambling off characters as a joke.
Wow! Sounds like they want to ruin a good thing.
I know! It’s sounding dissapointing.
Also yes, if Eleven doesn’t return I will be very upset. I’ve already been through the same thing with Lexa in the 100 and I’m still not over it. Honestly, why do tv producers always have to be such buzz killers by taking away the very people that make these shows worthwhile? It’s like they want to stir up controversy by ruffling feathers!
