Paramount+’s forthcoming Frasier sequel series has added another very familiar face to its guest cast.
Peri Gilpin, who played producer/foil to Kelsey Grammer’s radio host during the original series’ 11-season run on NBC, will reprise her role in the revival. She is set to appear in one episode.
As previously reported, the new series will follow Frasier as he returns to Boston, where he will be met with “new challenges” and “new relationships,” while also finally fulfilling “an old dream or two.”
Joining Grammer in the follow-up will be British actor Nicholas Lyndhurst (playing Frasier’s old college friend, university professor Alan Cornwall), Jack Cutmore-Scott (as Frasier and Lilith’s son Freddy), Anders Keith (as Niles and Daphne’s son David), Jess Salgueiro (as Freddy’s roommate Eve) and Toks Olagundoye (as Alan’s colleague and head of the university psychology department).
Bebe Neuwirth is also set to guest star in an episode, reprising her role as Frasier’s ex Lilith.
Grammer revealed in an interview that his former TV sib David Hyde Pierce “basically decided he wasn’t really interested in repeating the performance of Niles,” although he’s holding out hope that Jane Leeves will pop in as Daphne. (John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s dad Martin Crane, passed away in 2018.)
Although there’s been no word on what Frasier’s current professional situation is, it stands to reason (based on the character details above) that he will be kicking off a new chapter as a college professor.
The first two episodes will be helmed by legendary director (and Cheers/Frasier alum) James Burrows.
If he is back in Boston what about Cheers Characters guest starring in the show? Won’t Frasier stop by Cheers every now and then? Doesn’t make sense he wouldn’t if he’s back in Boston.
Can’t give away everything! I don’t want to know! I want surprises!!!
It’s too bad they are putting this show on an “Additional Pay” channel. I would love to have watched this!
Watch for deals. I got it free with Walmart+. Paramount+ is one of my favorite streaming services (Star Treks, Tulsa King…).
Paramount+ has lots of free month promo codes. Wait until Season 1 is out and then do a free month. I see active free month codes on Doctor of Credit (site) all the time.
If it is released on DVD/Blu-Ray, like some other Paramount+ shows have been, and you’ve got a good public library system, you’ll likely be able to watch eventually that way. It’s how I watched the first couple seasons of Discovery before got some good enough deals to watch the other seasons online.
they are always running specials at christmas I got for 24.99 for the year
Or Black Friday! That’s when I picked up a year of Peacock for cheap.
Too bad Roz wasn’t going to be recurring. I always liked her best..
Me too!
I’m getting interested. I would have loved to have Niles because I loved the brother dynamic on Frasier, but if we can’t have Niles, perhaps we can have Daphne.
Without Niles, Daphne, or Martin (though the last one is sadly unavoidable) this does not sound appealing to me at all. The whole point was that Martin and Daphne helped rein in Frasier and Niles’ worst qualities.

WAS.
made my day this is great. the only thing to make it better is niles. niles if you are reading this come on join for a couple episodes. see if you can work on getting daphne back too that would seal the deal. i cant wait
I could envision he is a professor with a podcast. That way they could have old acquaintances do one off episodes but focus on the different dynamic with the students.
I was hoping that Fraiser would end up having to live with his son and have the shoe on the other foot type of situation going on; now that would be a funny scenario indeed!
No Nile’s. No daphne. And a tease of Rob. Fraiser was a hilarious show. But it was definitely an ensemble comedy.
Sorry. iPhone autocorrect making me look like an idiot
Aw, yay, will be nice to see her pop in, if only for one episode :).
I liked how the show ended and especially without the entire cast I really wish this wasn’t happening.
I just want Niles and Daphne. That’s what I’m interested in. Still going to watch but I am already deeply disappointed.
