Actors from vastly different worlds will collide — possibly with a demon — on Outcast, Cinemax’s upcoming drama series from The Walking Dead‘s Robert Kirkman.
The network announced today announced the casting of six major Season 1 roles — led by The Office grad David Denman and NCIS‘ Melinda McGraw.
Outcast tells the tale of Kyle Barnes (Almost Famous star Patrick Fugit), a young man who “has been plagued by possession since he was a child. Now an adult, he embarks on a journey to find answers, but what he uncovers could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it.” Philip Glenister (Life on Mars) plays Reverend Anderson, a hard-drinking, hard-gambling West Virginia evangelist who believes he is a soldier in God’s holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. Gabriel Bateman (Stalker) rounds out the previously announced cast as Joshua Austin, an eight-year-old who lives across town from Kyle and appears to be in the clutches of demonic possession.
Denman has landed the role of Mark Holter, who’s married to Kyle’s sister Megan. He’s described as a “by-the-book small-town cop” whose work rates a close second on his priority list behind being a husband and father. “He loves his wife deeply, but his innate sense of justice is challenged by her loyalty to Kyle, whom Mark can’t forgive for his past transgressions.”
McGraw, meanwhile, will play Patricia MacCready, a “single mother and devout member of Rome’s Light of God Baptist Church and a regular at Reverend Anderson’s church teas.”
Outcast‘s other newly announced cast members include:
* Lee Tergesen (The Americans, Oz) as “Blake Morrow, a former police officer on death row for murdering his partner’s wife.”
* Grace Zabriskie (Twin Peaks, Big Love) as Mildred, “one of the old guard of parishioners at Anderson’s church. Full of spit and vinegar, Mildred lives alone and says what’s on her mind.”
* Catherine Dent (The Shield) as Janet Anderson, “the ex-wife of Reverend Anderson. Their marriage was shattered by Anderson’s obsession with battling the forces of darkness, but she still can’t help but feel affection and sympathy for the man she once loved, the father of the her child.”
* And finally, Brent Spiner (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Sidney, who “appears in Rome soon after Kyle and Reverend Anderson successfully exorcise little Joshua Austin, his dapper appearance and smiling demeanor hide a malevolence.”
Outcast is set to premiere in 2016.

why is there a hole in that girls pair of AEO jeans? Isn’t this supposed to be an ad for new jeans?
It’s the style….my daughter has those jeans.
Now there’s something I never thought I’d see: Gene Hunt and Data, together in a show. Now, if they were actually playing those two characters, that would be REALLY interesting.
You read my mind.
Date and Gene Hunt would be awesome. But, I’ll give the actors a chance with their new characters.
David Denman will always be demon Skip for me.^^ Coolest demon on “Angel”.
