Only Murders in the Building will exhibit some model behavior in Season 2, with the addition of Cara Delevingne.
The runway vet turned actress has boarded the Hulu comedy as a series regular, our sister site Deadline reports.
Delevingne will play Alice, a sophisticated art world insider who becomes enmeshed in the sleuthing podcasters’ latest mystery. Her previous TV roles include the Prime Video fantasy series Carnival Row, which wrapped filming on Season 2 in August; a premiere date has not yet been announced.
OMITB follows three onetime strangers (played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez) who are obsessed with true crime and suddenly found themselves caught up in one when a gruesome death occurred inside their Upper West Side apartment building. Suspecting foul play, the trio used their knowledge of true crime to uncover what really happened.
Season 1 ended with Charles (Martin), Oliver (Short) and Mabel (Gomez) solving their neighbor Tim’s murder, only for one of them to (seemingly) be framed for the slaying of their co-op president, Bunny. The trio now find themselves the subjects of a murder investigation and, quite possibly, at the center of a new crime podcast. (In the closing scene, a producer pitched their idol Cinda Canning an “Only Murderers in the Building” podcast.)
Martin co-created the show alongside Dan Fogelman (This Is Us) and John Hoffman (Grace & Frankie). “To feel we’ve connected with our audience and hit the mark enough already to have the chance to continue — and to carry on our show’s wild ride of mystery-comedy-empathy — is too exciting for words. So I’ll shut up now, and just say a huge thanks to all and I can’t wait for more!” Hoffman previously said of the show’s Season 2 renewal.

Ugh, she is an AWFUL actress. That’s a shame because the show is quite good.
I totally agree with you! What in the world were they thinking?
She’s apparently quite close buddies with Selena Gomez.
If her role is the size of some of the people from the first time, it will be fine. They rotated in a whole lot of guest stars (Sting, Nathan Lane, Tina Fey, Jane Lynch, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Jackie Hoffman, Jayne Houdyshell, Adriane Lenox, Ali Stroker, Roy Wood Jr, and a bunch of other people whose names I don’t know) and some were really good actors, while others didn’t need to be because they weren’t there very long. I trust whoever’s in charge to know what to do. They already proved they could make it work.
I agree too! Even if she is a series regular hopefully it’s the minimum to be considered that.
This should be interesting. Or not.
OMG please NO
Tbh I didn’t like Selena Gomez on board with this show. Buti gave it a shot because I love martin short and Steve Martin. I actually loved Selena Gomez a lot better. Who knows maybe you guys will like her. I would love to personally see Danny Glover, Joe Pesci or Morgan Freeman.
She has delivered some terrible performances over the years, but I’m not ready to definitively say she’s a bad actress. Even very good actors sometimes crash and burn, and I thought she was actually decent in Carnival Row.
Yeah… not watching season 2 then
She’s one of the handful of actors, like Kristen Stewart and Taryn Manning, who always looks dead-eyed and strung-out to me. I’ve never liked her anything. All in all, I don’t think I can handle both her and monotone, expressionless Selena Gomez in the same scenes, while Martin Short and Steven Martin overact hits from their glory days. But, hey, at least the news wasn’t Jane “Same Annoying Character, Different Costume” Lynch joining the show. Silver linings.
I didn’t have a high opinion of Selena Gomez before Season 1, and I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe it was the material, or maybe the cast around her elevated her. Maybe the same thing can happen with Cara Delavigne. Or maybe, given the smarts of those behind the show, they’ll tailor the role to whatever strengths she brings to the table. Either way, I’m still looking forward to Season 2.
