Another classic sitcom is getting the reunion treatment: BET+ will host a Martin 30th anniversary special with stars Martin Lawrence (aka Martin), Tisha Campbell (Gina), Tichina Arnold (Pamela) and Carl Anthony Payne II (Cole), plus surprise guest appearances. (Thomas Mikal Ford, who played Tommy, passed away in 2016.)
The program, hosted by comedian and actor Affion Crockett, will feature “interviews with the cast, original directors, special musical performances, and behind the scenes commentary on the importance and impact of the show that shaped a generation.” The special is slated to debut later this year.
Martin aired for five seasons on Fox from 1992-1997.

Which of today’s TVLine Items pique your interest?
I’m loving the news about Tom Swift! I Can’t wait for this show to be on the air.
I’m surprised Tisha agreed to the special.
My first thought was “She’s willing to be in the same room with Martin again?”
There’s no way they can’t avoid NOT talking about the conflict.
I’m sure I read about them burying the hatchet many years ago. But yeah, no way they can’t talk about it.
Right!
They made up two years ago at a private dinner with Tichina. Where have y’all been? And why haven’t y’all been paying attention to pop culture news?
This…. and Tisha has said years ago that he took the heat for her and there were other things going on.
“Martin” is a classic but since it was a series with a black cast, it doesn’t get a lot of mainstream respect. It should be on every list of the greatest sitcoms of all time. It should have won Emmys. I’m excited to check out Tom Swift. But please bring on news about ND getting a fourth season! The only CW shows that has been renewed with no official statements yet is the Flash and Superman & Lois.

You’re comparing a loud silly sitcom such as “Martin” to renowned classics like “All in the Family”, “M*A*S*H”, “Frasier”, “Taxi” and others??
REALLY??
The Cosby Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Family Matters get plenty of mainstream respect. It may be that it simply wasn’t as good as many other series—with black casts or not.
Get real. Martin wasn’t an Emmy worthy sitcom. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Roc, Living Single, and Girlfriends were though.
fresh prince really???
Really can’t be that majority of viewers thought it sucked, NAHHH not that, it’s cause the cast was black. Give me a break. Come up with some new material and when you do hopefully it will have merit.
Weird, wasn’t Tisha Campbell accessing Martin Lawrence of sexual assaults and harassment and now they’re doing a reunion special. I mean, its gonna feel awkward to watch this play out.

I’d rather see a “In Living Color” cast reunion.

Well..Can’t wait😆
Can’t wait for the Martin special. I’m glad we can stream on HBO Max or BET+. It was a different height of comedy than what we saw on other 90s sitcoms surely, to the point where your anxiety or somber mood will be cured by the jokes! The show spawned tons of slogans in pop culture that float around the lexicon, which is testament to its enduring legacy.
Are bodyguards or psychologists on hand to keep Tisha Campbell safe?
Are they going to directly address the hell he put her through?
