Just days after refuting buzz that One Direction was set to reunite for James Corden‘s upcoming CBS swan song, The Late Late Show is confirming that, well, there was some truth to the buzz.
CBS announced Monday that Harry Styles will serve as one of Corden’s final two guests when Late Late Show airs its final broadcast on Thursday, April 27. Joining the “As It Was” singer on Corden’s couch for the finale will be Will Ferrell.
On April 13, amid speculation that Styles’ former band was poised to get back together to help send Corden off, Late Late Show‘s official Twitter account posted the following denial:“Nobody loves the boys more than us, but this story just isn’t true. What is true is we’ve got an absolutely brilliant… finale planned.”
Other celebs dropping by during The Late Late Show‘s final two weeks include Tom Cruise, Billie Eilish, Josh Gad, Jennifer Garner, Mila Kunis, Seth Meyers, Billy Porter, Lisa Kudrow, Sharon Stone and Natalie Portman.
As previously announced, CBS will air the one-hour primetime special The Last Late Late Show With James Corden Carpool Karaoke Special just ahead of Late Late Show‘s final telecast at 10 pm/ET on April 27.
It was last April that Corden announced the end of his eight-year late-night run was nigh. “It’s been a really hard decision to leave because I’m so immensely proud of the show,” he said in a statement at the time. “I always thought I’d do it for five years and then leave, and then I stayed on. I’ve really been thinking about it for a long time, thinking whether there might be one more adventure.”
My listings are still showing the normal time. When they say two hour finale, does that include the special earlier in the night? If not, is Colbert pre-empted or is it running late?
Nevermind I think I misread something
Actually, I realize now the line about the finale was edited. I will assume the original quote also meant the special then.
The special is on in Primetime, followed by the final Late Night episode in its normal time slot. 👍
Completely unrelated but how can this be a tv news site if y’all aren’t even sharing the controversial clip of David Choe? Wish I had a more direct way to ask this
an excellent question, Star. one I think TVLine needs to address.
I hate to see James leave. He is 1000% better than his predecessor!!
You’re joking right? Craig Ferguson was so much better than Corden. Ferguson is actually funny. Corden isn’t
Agree! Missed Ferguson’s show. I find England comedy & talk shows are different than US comedy. And I’m not crazy about it.
Lol…the fact that you think that this fake and entitled person (as he proved he was in his disgraceful “omellette-gate behavior) is better than Craig Ferguson was should tell everyone all they need to know about you. Night & day…not EVEN close!
I loved Craig Ferguson’s Late Show & never watched Corden at all. I may watch the special finale. Haven’t decided yet.
All I can ever think of when someone mentions Corden is how he reportedly berated that waitress in NYC
What if ? No one watched or cared ?
It would be awesome if One Direction made a surprise appearance and reunited. They’ve always been close to James Corden, so I suppose it is a possibility that they’re trying to keep secret. Don’t watch his show all the time, but I do enjoy it. His sketches are funny and his self-deprecating humor is great! He always has a great appreciation for his guests (maybe too much sometimes), but he has been an enjoyable host and has put on a great show for the time he’s been there.
When Corden took over the show I enjoyed the new style he brought, but once Carpool Karaoke took over the show I dropped out. Just became too pandering for me. Looking forward to what’s next.
Bye bye! Go back home and harass someone else!
It’s a real shame that the rest of One Direction won’t be there. I will surely miss them especially Louis Tomlinson. He is doing so well with his solo careeer I guess it wasn’t possible.
