Hulu on Monday greenlit two very different series about two very different kind of women.
As announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, the streamer’s new series orders include Reprisal, a hyper-kinetic revenge tale that follows a relentless femme fatale (Timeless‘ Abigail Spencer) who, after being left for dead, leads a vengeful campaign against a bombastic gang of gear heads.
Created, written and exec-produced by Josh Corbin (Crackle’s StartUp), Reprisal also stars Rodrigo Santoro (Westworld), Mena Massoud (Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan), Madison Davenport (Sharp Objects), Rhys Wakefield (True Detective Season 3), David Dastmalchian (MacGyver), W. Earl Brown (Deadwood) and Gilbert Owuor (Goliath).
Hulu’s other series order is for The Great, a genre-bending, anti-historical ride through 18th Century Russia that chronicles the wildly comic rise of Catherine the Nothing (played by Elle Fanning) to Catherine the Great. Nicholas Hoult (X-Men this and that), Phoebe Fox (Close to the Enemy), Adam Godley (Lodge 49), Gwilym Lee (Jamestown), Charity Wakefield (The Player), Douglas Hodge (Catastrophe) and Sacha Dhawan (Iron Fist) also star.
