Ed Helms to Dabble in Fake News for Comedy Central Special

Onetime Daily Show correspondent Ed Helms is returning to his former basic cable stomping grounds, as the star and executive producer of The Fake News With Ted Nelms, a new special for Comedy Central.

Per our sister site Deadline, Fake News will feature “absurd, made-up news that closely resembles real news, delivered by an absurd, made-up guy who closely resembles Ed Helms.” Emmy-winning Daily Show vet Stu Miller will also serve as an EP.

Helms was a Daily Show correspondent from 2002-’06, before joining fellow alum Steve Carrell on NBC’s The Office. He eventually made the transition to the big screen, starring in the Hangover trilogy and the most recent Vacation movie.

Earlier this month, Helms was reunited with his former Daily Show colleagues, including Jon Stewart, Samantha Bee, John Oliver and Rob Corddry, as part of a reunion on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

A premiere date for Fake News has not yet been revealed.
