Supernatural Scooby-Doo Episode

Supernatural Meets Scooby-Doo? Jinkies, It's Happening!

Season 13 is a lucky number if you’re a fan of both Supernatural and Scooby-Doo, as the long-running CW drama will team up with the classic ‘toon for a mystery-solving adventure during the 2017-18 TV season.

Supernatural stars Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki made the announcement on Thursday at The CW’s annual Upfront presentation, teasing a “colorful” episode that will take place in the “fully animated world of Scooby-Doo.”

This is far from Sam and Dean’s first far-out folly. In previous seasons, they have been transported to a world where they are “Jared and Jensen,” the stars of a show called Supernatural; parodied all manner of TV shows, from soapy medical drama to cheesy sitcom; and even dabbled in cartoon scenes before, in Season 8’s “Hunteri Heroici.” Supernatural also exists as a Japanese anime series.

Supernatural is a Warner Bros. TV production, while Scooby and the gang’s recent adventures have come courtesy of Warner Bros. Animation.

  3. Lola says:

    Greatest thing ever.

  4. Haz says:

I wonder if they will try to get the cast from the live action movie to voice the characters? Robot Chicken did.

    • suzi says:

There are new animated movies being made all the time, I’d love to hear Frank Welker, Grey DeLisle, Matthew Lillard and Mindy Cohn/Kate Micucci.

There are new animated movies being made–I’d rather hear Frank Welker, Grey DeLisle, Matthew Lillard, and Mindy Cohn (or Kate Micucci).

  5. Larry says:

Perfect! Cannot wait for this episode!

  6. Billy meacham says:

This will probably be the first time I watch supernatural just for this.

  7. AnnieM says:

Ha! This should be a riot. I wonder if they will be bringing back Mike Farrell’s Fred Jones character for this one.

  8. AnnieM says:

I think my comment got lost. Anyway, I wonder if they will bring back Mike Farrell and his Fred Jones character for this.

  9. Ninamags says:

    OMG! This is beyond fantastic!!

    Cannot wait.

Maybe this means that Gabriel/Loki could be back!!! Who else would be able to make this happen?

    • David Bloom says:

Maybe, a long time ago, Casey Kasum made a deal with Crowley. In exchange for his soul, Casey got his radio show. So the newly demonised Casey takes on the boys by placing them inside the Scooby Doo world.

But I rather have Gabe back.

  10. Daphne says:

    Jeepers.

  11. kate says:

    reeeeeally looking forward to this!!!

  12. Gary says:

just think dean get to hit on daphne

  13. Christian says:

Pathetic.. just put this show out of its misery already.

    • Amy J says:

      Lucifer, is that you?

    • Dysturbed says:

There’s nothing pathetic imo with them doing something creative and likely enjoyable for lots of viewers, on a show that’s still doing well (based on CW’s standards) this far into it’s existence.

    • geegee says:

Jeez… what demon crawled up inside of you? :p

for a show that’s 12 years old, they still manage to outshine even what I would consider top episodes in the show’s history

  14. Adam says:

It’s an amazing idea (and I’m watching), but I heard they get eaten by a shark at the end.

    • DreamRose311 says:

No no, that happened when Adam was introduced. It was right there in the episode title :)

      • Adam says:

Sorry, I quit watching the show 20 or so years ago. But I’m glad it still has its fans. And again…excited to watch this episode. Always good to see Scooby again!

        • DreamRose311 says:

Oh, I didn’t realize you weren’t still watching… I’d like to point out that I didn’t notice your name was Adam when I wrote my reply… I was referring to their half brother that got introduced in season 4. 8 years later and I’m still deeply amused that they named the episode ‘Jump the Shark’.

  15. Renee Marohl says:

Wonder how Fred will handle having two extremely hot guys working with him!!! Cant wait to see this episode. Two of my favorite shows ever together. Should be fun!

  16. EG says:

If they manage not to make it entirely g-rated, I’m down.

  17. DreamRose311 says:

I’m gonna require a scene where Velma (or anyone really, but I’d enjoy it from Velma the most I think) starts to say ‘Son of a B-‘ right at the same time Dean starts to…

  18. Michael Rapino says:

Need to add some extra-meta crossover with the Movie Scoobie Do gang including Gellar and Prince! CW needs more SMG. How about a vampire slayer in the Scoobie world.

  19. Aubrey says:

Scooby Doo is such an iconic brand, I’m very much looking forward to this adaptation!

  20. This is why this show is still going strong after 12 years. It just shows the guys don’t take things too seriously. My all time favorite Supernatural Episode is “The French Connection” when Sam & Dean get thrown into an alternative universe to the TV Show Supernatural and they play themselves. So love that episode

  21. AD says:

    OMG Awesome!

  22. Jackie says:

In Dean’s favorite saying……”AWESOME” I can’t wait to see it. Always been a fan of Scooby-Doo and of course Supernatural. I just hope they animate it like the old ones.

  23. Ella says:

Amazing!!! Scooby Doo always ends up with the bad guy being someone in a costume though… :P Will Supernatural stick to the same premise or will the bad guy actually be supernatural?

  24. geegee says:

I love the meta/ parody/ straight-up funny SPN episodes… they make both Js shine as actors (still giggle whenever I remember Dean’s perception of Sam’s bitching face while whining at him in the first Trickster episode),

    Cannot wait!

  25. Nikki says:

This is awesome! I’m a fan of both shows. I’m going to love the crossover.

  26. missy says:

    Awesome!

Supernatural continues to be amazing and surprising!

If anyone wants to know what a long running series done right looks like, look no further :-D

  27. David says:

I find that Supernatural is losing its focus and all credibility with this move. They should start thinking about closing up shop. It is totally infantile!

  28. Michael Summerset says:

There have been many experimental episodes that could have gone wrong but they manage to make them work. It sounds like a bad idea but given how they’ve handled other ideas it should be good.
