Hulu is about to get a lot more Foxy.
The streaming service is rebooting the classic ’70s blaxploitation film Foxy Brown as a TV series, according to our sister site Deadline, with Meagan Good signed on to star. Malcolm Spellman (Empire) and Ben Watkins (Burn Notice) will serve as showrunners and write the pilot; Good will also be a producer on the project, which is currently in development.
The original Foxy Brown, released in 1974, starred Pam Grier as a woman seeking vengeance against a crime syndicate after her boyfriend is murdered. The role, along with 1973’s Coffy, helped make Grier a star, and the sexy, butt-kicking Foxy remains an iconic film character to this day.
Good has been a familiar face to TV fans for years, with lead roles on NBC’s Deception and Fox’s Minority Report — though both were axed after just one season. She also appeared as Neal’s ex-girlfriend Grace on CBS’ Code Black last season.
